These Teen Mom Trading Cards Are Incredible

How is it that these Teen Mom trading cards have existed for a year, and the Internet has only discovered them now? But that seems to be the case, as over the last few days I’ve heard whispers of the project undertaken by Adam Ellis, an unabashed lover of MTV‘s additive reality show. Adam regularly runs the blog Books of Adam where he draws funny comics and even does portrait commissions; he originally posted about his Teen Mom trading cards back in late 2010.

The set of seven cards (going for $9.99) features four moms and three babydaddies from season 1, natch. I’m one of the few Crushable folks who doesn’t watch Teen Mom, and yet I can tell that Adam’s illustrations are spot-on. From Maci Bookout‘s dumbfounded expression to Gary Shirley‘s dead soul, the details are all rendered hilariously in person-specific color schemes.

Plus, if you read Adam’s discussions on each character, it’s clear that he’s no casual fan. For instance, his analysis of Gary’s relationship with Amber Portwood:

However, since losing a significant amount of weight, Amber seems to be on a cruel power trip with Gary, knowing that no matter how awfully she treats him, he’ll always come crawling back to her with a to-go box of meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
