This is a video interview with a transgendered Oregon man named Thomas Beattie who is pregnant (it’s complicated, but basically, he was born a woman, but identifies as a man, but he is now pregnant, since his partner cannot carry a baby). Here’s the video interview with Oprah:
I’m intrigued by this whole story; obviously he wouldn’t be getting as much press if he didn’t openly identify as a man. I just hope that the kiddo escapes all of the scrutiny that he and his partner are facing and will face.
The only problems this family and child have are all of those closed-minded people out there who experience such hate that they can’t embrace humanity. Yes, God created Thomas as Tracy. Yes, HE is having a baby. That child will grow up perfectly fine and incredibly loved. Do we make such a big deal out of a two-mom or a two-dad household? Not the way hatred is being directed here. If you can’t accept it, GET OVER IT! Mind your own business then. Everyone is entitled to love, and I wish all of the love and God’s blessings to this brave family.
Hi Nancy & Thomas, congratulations on the birth of your baby girl. I must admit, I was extremely sceptical about your story when I first heard it last year. I thought it had to be some kind of hoax. But I am watching your story on 20-20 this very minute (10pm Feb 5th 2009). All I can say to those people who are threatening you and intererring in your life, is get your own life, mind your own friggin business. This is not your concern. Good luck in the future. If you have too much trouble in your own country you could come to my country.
I find it interesting that most of the folks raving at the couple can not spell! Is that a commentary on their intelligence? I wonder what political party they favor?
I think that this family has alot of courage to stand up to such narrow-minded individuals. People need to open their eyes to an ever changing world. Nothing stays the same, the fact that America has its first black president is evidence of this. The world should embrace the fact that this couple want a child. who has the right to condone them as ‘freaks’ when all they offer is a loving home and a happy family life. As stated previously by a number of people. It is the narrow-minded individuals who will make this baby’s social life a problem. Not the parents, or their family life. People should wake up to the world we live in. There are much more important issues that we could be worrying about such as the loss of life we’re experiencing in the middle east… I feel bad for those that can’t be open enough to be happy for this family.
I`m just an ordinary housewife from Sweden and I want to express my feelings to this wonderful family that had the curage to do something extra ordinary and stood up to it. Everyone keeps talking about this word “NORMAL” a mother taking drugs is not normal while pregnant. Bring up children in the wrong violient, abusive , family is not right but is still happening all over this world. Who the hell are we to judge ?????? Thomas and his partner are doing no harm to anybody at all so all you idiot’s keep judgement to yourself.
i think that if the baby is brought up in a loving family with a mother and father that is all that matters everyone who thinks anything els needs to learn that know matter how the baby is brought in to the world it is a humen being and should not be mocked i think thomas has more courage then most men so congrat thomas hope that the baby and you have a good life togher

people are made by God, and he specifically chose their gender for them! God made every single person exactly the way he or she is supposed to be, and there are no mistakes. men do not get “accidentally trapped” inside of a woman’s body. thomas beatie was made a woman by God, and should identify himself (or herself?) that way! he doesn’t have male parts, and therefore should not be considered a man. his having a wife, is, in a way like gay marriage, which should not have happened anyway!

Alright, look here, I believe people telling anyone they are playing god are themselves trying to play god. A person undergoing surgery to change their gender on the outside, just means they want to be normal and want to be who they are. This fact cannot be changed. A person cannot go through life being who they are, so all of you “god” lovers stop being so ignorant and look at the facts of humanity, it is your ignorance that will harm the child, not it’s parents being who they are. This child will probably grow up to not care so much what others think, and believe in it’s self… rather then believing what other people say are “god’s” words… people get over yourself seriously

i think people are trying God which is not right, people should accept thier biological makeup without trying to play another rolen thereby telling God that he did not create them properly. We should appreciate which gender we belong to and be who we are.

No no no, there is no man in this couple. One of them is just done up like a man. This woman has been declared a man by law, even though she has female reproductive organs. This same sex couple bought some sperm and one of the women in this freak show impregnated herself with the sperm. It’s exactly the same as any woman being impregnated artificially, except this poor child will be as confused as Jessica Simposon at a spelling bee
