Tim Burton and Johnny Depp Golden Lion For Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony
In early spring of 2008, Tim Burton will start filming a 3D “Alice in Wonderland”.
Tim Burton has signed a deal with the Walt Disney Co. to direct and produce 3-D movies based on Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” and his own short film “Frankenweenie.”
The “Alice” adaptation, combining live-action and performance-capture technology, will start shooting in early 2008.
Burton will then start work on a full-length version of his 1984 cult favorite “Frankenweenie,” about a pet dog who is brought back to life by his loyal owner in a very unusual way. The film will be shot in stop-motion animation.
Burton is putting the finishing touches on the Johnny Depp musical “Sweeney Todd,” which DreamWorks/Paramount will release domestically next month.

Nope, it’s official. HBC is the Queen of Hearts. it’s not rumored or anything. I forgot where I read it but Tim himself said so.
Yeah I thought that it was definite but for some reason on imdb it says ‘rumored’ but I don’t know why…Maybe it hasn’t been updated for a while or something. I’m so excited for this movie! The cast sounds AMAZING.
OH ya excitement for sure!!!! i just hope its not only a re-make like his willy wonka movie… I want a twisted version of Alice like the American Mcgee’s Alice… i know there is a movie for that coming out too but its doing nothing Sarah michelle gellar is sitting on the rights to play Alice in that one
Tim is doing this FOR Disney so it can’t be too twisted. The scariest Disney has ever done was “High School Musical” *shudders*. I want to see the film version of American McGee’s Alice. it’ll be awesome.
Oh my gosh! I really want to see “Repo! The Genetic Opera” it looks absolutely amazing! But it’s only playing in NYC, LA, Chivago, and like one more city. Then it’s coming out on DVD in April. It looks so good though! =(

Well, I don’t think it’s going to be like SUPER twisted, like I don’t think Alice’s going to die at the end or something, but I think it’s going to be kind of different from the original Disney version that we’re all used to.

Katie — What’s “Repo! The Genetic Opera” about? I think I’ve heard of it before but I’m not sure what it is.
MEGAN—–American Mcgee’s Alice is a video game and there are several collectibles that were made. Its the Alice story but what happened was that her house burnt down and her parents died. The looking glass/mirror was kind of messed up i guess and the whole idea is that Wonderland is Alice’s Mind and because of the incident she went to a psych ward and everything is kinda twisted. Toys become weapons and friends become foe… check out the American Mcgee’s Alice trailers or game videos on Youtube AWESOME!! (added a link at bottom) Im sure Tim Burton could clean it up a bit but it would be boring if he just did a re-make of the same old same old you know what i mean?

HA HA i wish they were coming out around the same time but they are not. LOL i love Tim Burton movies and all but i cant wait for American Mcgee’s alice and ive been waiting for like 7 years now since they started talking about making the movie… Im not sure we will ever see it thats why i hope Tim Burton’s movie makes up for the loss of Mcgee’s film.
Repo! is difficult to explain. The premise is that in the future there will be a huge organ failure and that everyone will be dying from it so a company called GeneCo decided to have an organ harvest and provide people with organs. But if they can’t keep up with the payments, the Repo Man comes and takes the organs back.

Josh – I read somewhere that it was coming out in 2011 or something? But that was probably wrong anyway, woooooops. Yeah I think Tim Burton’s Alice will be really good, and a suitable substitute for American McGee’s
Katie – WOW. That’s an interesting plot line…haha I can’t believe I haven’t heard of it. The music sounded really cool in the trailer though. Sounds very interesting. I probably won’t see it though, sounds a little creepy for me.
Yeah, it’s one of those bizarre movies. It looks interesting though and definately different!
I can’t wait for Tim’s version and for American McGee’s (if it comes out, which i hope it will)
