The Today show has reportedly canceled an appearance by Ann Coulter. The acerbic and controversial author and mouthpiece (and piece of work) was supposed to be on the show this morning to talk about her new book Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ and Their Assault on America. ![]()
There aren’t that many people out there that I truly cannot stand but Ann Coulter is among my select few. The woman is vile and hateful and I’m not sad that they nixed her visit.
She claims they did it because her book is inflammatory but the morning talk show explains that, with all that’s happening in Washington and the Middle East, they simply didn’t have time for her today.
"I guess this ends the ‘they just want to get ratings’ argument about liberal media bias," Coulter whined on her website.
NBC went on record saying: "We’ve had Ann Coulter on Today many times, but because of the news in Washington and the Middle East, we decided to cancel her appearance tomorrow. Understanding the media as well as she does, we are sure she knows this happens from time to time. We look forward to welcoming her back in the future."
I hate to agree with Ann but this does sound really unbelievable. There are four, count ‘em, four hours available on the Today show and they couldn’t spare 10 minutes? Something is up. Still not convinced?
While it’s true that they did focus on the Middle East (former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, did discuss his peacekeeping missions) and they did feature a rundown of President-elect Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package, they also aired an interview with, ahem, Perez Hilton.
Come on, now! They had time for Perez but not Coulter? Don’t get me wrong, I dislike both of them but that’s just wrong! Perez hasn’t written a book, his blog is sinking and he talks about celebrity gossip. Today didn’t want Ann Coulter on the show – period. Just man up and tell the truth NBC!
