The Daily Mail has some cute pictures of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise jogging through Melbourne’s National Botanical Gardens over the weekend. I can’t find the pictures to post, but you can see them here.
Tom and Katie both wore white shits and black bottoms, which sure makes for some cute pictures! I also love how Tom’s hair is flying up in the wind. Maybe he should have donned a pony tail like his wife, lol.
We haven’t had any candids of Katie on the “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” set in quite some time. It has some of wondering if she is done filming, but she is obviously still in Melbourne. Maybe they are just taking a break from filming.
On the same day the couple was seen jogging, the Herald Sun is saying that Katie, Tom and Suri attended a matinee performance of Slava’s Snowshow at the Athenaeum Theatre in Collins St.. The article says that they left less than an hour into the show.
In other news, it won’t be too long before Tom has to head back to the states to start work on his film “Wichita”. Rumor has it that production on the film starts September 14th. I am really looking forward to hearing more about this movie, as well as seeing some pictures of Tom from the set.

Re: The lack of recent pictures of Katie
They could be doing interiors (interior shots on a set inside the studio) at this point. Most of the pictures we’ve seen have been taken on location. That would explain a lack of pictures.
Re: Jogging and Going to the Theater
I have to comment to this. I think the jogging shot is a PR setup. I know alot of people here don’t like to hear that, but one has to wonder how the photographers knew they’d be in the park. IMHO, they got a call from someone in Tom and Katie’s entourage.
Many say the photographers are stationed outside the hotel or the studio and follow Tom and Katie, which is how they’re able to obtain these off the cuff pictures. The problem with that opinion is that they don’t always get shots. I don’t buy that for a minute. Let me explain: As an example, Tom and Katie took Suri to the theater after their jog. Why didn’t the photographers get pictures of them entering the theater? Because they weren’t told they were going to be there!! IF the photographers were following Tom, Katie and Suri from the hotel, they would have seen them enter the theater, even if it was by a back door.
Just my opinion based on the fact that in my business actors call the paps all the time and Tom is famous for it. He was even caught doing it awhile ago and it was mentioned by a photographer talking to him on video. It was at one of his older childrens’ sporting events a couple of years ago as he was headed to his car. I’m paraphrasing here but Tom said something like “How did you guys know to come here?” and the photographer answered “Because your people called us”. Tom looked embarassed and jumped into the car quickly.
IMHO, it’s Tom’s doing and not Katie’s. I don’t think she enjoys the attention from the paps or the tabloids, but I think Tom does.

Both Tom and Katie have always enjoyed running………It’s nice to see them enjoying it together. There were reports of them running together in Berlin as well when Tom was filming Valkyrie.
For the most part I’ve enjoyed the fact that even with The Herald Sun (AU) having a TomKat spotter request on it’s Online page, along with a map detailing just where they are and a special number to call for sightings that the people of Melbourne are giving them space………..The paparazzi are a different story!

staged or unstaged…cute pics
I wonder though, if its anybody else other than Tom , would anyone think its just a photo opp, or staged. Today I was looking in a mag, and it had pics of Hugh Jackson playing with his daughter on a street in New York, bet it doesn’t even cross anyones mind that it could have been staged. I know a lot of it, is Toms fault , he has definetly said wrong things, and as good looking and charasmatic as he appears on screen, he certainly doesn’t always have a way with getting his words and ideas across to people in a positive way, but whether its his decisions or that of advisors, or whoever they have to look after these things , they have really messed up good and proper. In my opinion a lot of things should have been dealt with from the start, instead everything escalated out of control, and left too late to have any positive outcome, eg Oprah coming to his home in Teluride, and when Tom does have an opportunity to state his case , he really doesn’t make the most of it, to tell it straight down the line, instead of just touching the subject , like he does sometimes. The media does not have the right to go around questioning Suris paternity, that the father is Chris Klien , Josh Harnet or Ron Hubbard, this is disgusting, and again in my opinion should have been dealt with straight away and shut everybodys mouth, it just doesn’t go away, and the silence has made it worse, a free for all, so to speak. He has sued for lesser things before, so why didn’t he just go for it, is beyond me. Even the Scie thing, if he talked about in a way that he makes it sound that it works for him and has worked for him, in a positive way, and then maybe says it might not be for you, but don’t dismiss it until you know more about it , sought of thing, you don’t sound so pushy . He sought of sounds a bit , like he is not open to negotiation, thats where he fails.
When Diane Sawyer questioned Tom on what level he has reached something about THETAN something , he said to her , ”I can’t believe you asked that”, I sat there wondering why he said that, then he said people should go and read it for themselves, but why not explain yourself, in a way where people might begin to comprehend, what you are trying to convey, whatever it is , that it means to you. Nobody was going to go away and read about it, the whole thing sounded corny, and left him wide open for discussion again, even though I think he means well. I hope his future movies do well for him again, so he can finally get some positive, instead of negative media attention that he can’t seem to shake.
Annie………….Tom did address many of the things you mentioned early on.NOBODY, NOBODY wanted to hear him. It was as if the media and those who had waited for YEARS to squash Tom Cruise had finally gotten their hooks in and the sustained smear campaign was in full force!
Early on Tom spoke to Jess Cagle and talked about the Brooke Shields criticism, he did an interview with Ladies Home Journal, with Ellen DeGeneres and more.
I agree that he doesn’t always get his points across as he should but how he and Katie have been treated by the media is disgusting!
We are coming up to give years since since Tom and Katie have been a couple and it is far better than it was BUT what is and has been said about the Cruise’s is unlike ANYTHING I have ever seen directed toward a celebrity or even a non celebrity.
However one may feel about the Cruise’s , the way they have hd on to their dignity throughout has to be admired.
I have not read a report from anyone who has actually met Tom that hasn’t come away with a positive impression of Tom and in the movie business that is rare.

I must add that to me Tom and Katie did handle things in the right way. Suing would have acheived nothing. What it would have done is to play right into the crticis hands.
For all those vicious things said about Tom, Katie, their families, the children most especially Suri look at them almost five years later, still together and critics still desperately scraping the bottom of the barrel.

It was pretty horrible. Especially the horrific things said about Suri when she was an infant. Anytime someone criticizes a child, my back goes up. The children of celebrities did not ask for the attention they garner by being the child of a celebrity. They’re born into it. Attacking a child is probably the lowest thing a person or the media can do. It bothers me to no end.
However, I think Tom and Katie did make a mistake in the way the handled the release of Suri’s first public pictures in Vanity Fair. By not releasing a photo for so long, of course the public and the media went into high speculation mode. They had been so public during their courtship, released their wedding pictures right away and were very public during the pregnancy as well. Then all of a sudden…..NOTHING. Of course the media went banana’s leading to all kinds of ridiculousness! And it was ridiculous!!
IMHO, the smart thing to do would have been to NOT give the media the chance. Had they released a quick picture, maybe of just Suri’s face, taken at home, within the first few weeks (as so many celebrities do these days) they would have been enough to quell the idiocy that followed. Don’t get me wrong, the big splash in Vanity Fair was nice for the fans to look at, but they made a media spectacle of it all after keeping Suri hidden for months and months. Of course the media and the public went nuts! They could have controlled the situation if they wanted to, but instead they chose to make it a media event after ramping up attention from months of speculation. I remember at the time they said they had always intended to release a picture. So why wait so long if not to build it up to a media event? After all, they did say they had always intended to release a photo of Suri! Why the 4 month wait? Had they done it right away, the silly speculation that went on would have never happened! I have to blame them for that. My opinion is they got exactly what they intended. Alot of press. Again, I have to say…and this is just my feeling…..that none of that is controlled by Katie. Tom is the one who likes the press attention. Katie doesn’t seem to.

I don’t know, Mary, how true this is , but I read that Tom sued , because it was said that he and Nicole took lessons on certain things in Eyes Wide Shut.
I also read somewhere that he sued , because it was said that he and Penelope Cruise broke up because he couldn’t give her a child. I find people discussing the paternity of your baby so publicly, worse than the other reasons for suing, I have never seen that sort of thing before , I think its awful, and the silence has continued to make it flourish, and not go away. I for one have found it disappointing that nothing was ever publicly adressed in this matter, all Tom had to do was put out a strong statement about it, I think anyway. Thats what I mean, when I say that whatever advice they get , or don’t , it comes across as wrong.
Annie from what I can remember it was Penelope Cruz who sued an Australian magazine for defamation regarding her relationship with Tom.
Tom is quoted as saying that he would ask for a retraction first rather than sue and many times we see/hear about a cease and desist order or a strong statement coming from Tom’s lawyers before we hear about a lawsuit.

Why constantly sue over crap generated to boost sales of struggling tabloids and as Katie herself said to validate rumors.

Hi Annie…………..I think that the passage of time will/is making it more difficult for the tabloids to constantly have a cover story with the same tag lines- Split, miserable, pregnant, over! etc.
It’s so obvious that the pics of Tom and Katie kissing on the set of her movie were purposely kept out of circulation.
I swear the words “source” “friend of” have taken on new meanings.
We all have our opinions but as you wrote it’s from the outside.
