Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had a low key 2nd anniversary celebration yesterday. They went to dinner early so Katie wouldn’t miss her ‘All My Sons’ performance.
On Sunday evening, Katie flew back to their home in Los Angeles after her matinee performance. Since there are no shows on Monday, Katie had a whole day together with Tom and the family.
A source close to the family said, “It was nice for them all to spend time together but Katie was tired so didn’t want to make a big deal of it.That’s not to say they’re not still as in love as they were two years ago, just they don’t feel the need to be as flamboyant about it now.”
Maybe after Katie is done with her Broadway stint, her and Tom can go away for a real vacation. I imagine Tom wanted to whisk her away to somewhere fun, but Katie’s schedule just wouldn’t allow it.

whisk her away someplace special? enough with the whisking away……the poor woman needs a day to just unravel and unwind. her schedule is so packed and she looks exhausted. she needs some time to rest and have some peace and quiet instead of packing her schedule so full with performances on stage and then jetting back to LA. Thats ridiculous. TC should have flown in to make her life a little easier.

“A source close to the family” translates to Tom’s publicist in LA speak.
Now why would they tell People magazine anything if they want to be private people? Why not just enjoy your anniversary and not use it for publicity. That was a rhetorical question, kiddies!
I think what bothers me most about Tom and Katie is their constant need to be in the spotlight. It’s unnecessary, especially when they use little Suri to do it.
Oh Well….I guess with Valkyrie coming out, Tom needs something to counteract the negative press it’s getting, so he’ll just use his family. It’s tough to respect that.

You know what, Jenna? I don’t think Tom is the “giver” in the relationship. I think it’s all about HIM and if anyone is going to back down, it’s Katie. What Tom wants, Tom gets. That’s the impression I get from speaking to people around the business who have worked with him and know him well. I hope Katie is OK with that.

Tom Cruise not a giver? What next? I wonder. Katie seems well loved and she herself has admitted Tom makes her life complete. He has flown to NY how many time to be with her. Not a giver? Please curb your prejudices for once.

Charlotte Rose, I don’t believe Suri is used for publicity, thats mean, and I don’t believe you really mean that anyway. What have they done, or what are they supposed to do with Suri, just keep her locked in the the apartment, I don’t understand. I believe sometimes , maybe they do a couple of photo opps, in exchange for something from the paps, like not bothering Suri if she goes out somewhere during the day when her mother is at work. I really think that when they go back to LA we won’t see them for weeks on end, and the media is going to start ” WHERE IS SURI CRUISE, HAS’NT BEEN SEEN FOR 42 DAYS” you’ll see thats whats going to happen, and it only happens with Suri no other celeb child.

Actually, the story did originate with People who usually gets their information from celebrity publicists. That’s common knowledge. Fametastic and every other site of that ilk picked it up afterward.
Fametastic, like Contact Music and all those other sites are trash. They pick up info from credible sources and add to it. Most people know that and I’m sure you do as well. As for the claim that Katie flew to LA on Sunday and Tom flew to NY on Monday (with her I suppose), I’m not buying it. It sounds ridiculous, especially if he was back in LA promptly. There’s no common sense behind it. Sorry, but I’d put far more faith in People than some random website known for being inaccurate. That’s my opinion.

Oh my goodness! Don’t get your bloomers in a bunch! LOL! (thats a joke, hon, not meant to upset you). It’s just my opinion, and like bellybuttons, we all have one. ;)
In terms of “prejudice”, we’re all prejudiced here in one way or another. You are too. Your prejudice is just that Tom and Katie can do no wrong. I’m more of a realist. :) To each their own, right? No need to get upset.

I’m sorry if my opinion is upsetting. I don’t mean it to be. I just see things a little differently because of my proximity to the industry.
I don’t know is “use” is a word I would use in terms of Suri, but I do think they could be a bit more private with her. There are numerous ways of accomplishing that and keeping her in the house is not one of them. Not at all and I would never suggest that. One can leave thru a back entrance or garage area of a building without walking out the front where the paparrazi hang out. They could go to smaller restaurants which are known for not tipping off photographers….there are many both in NY and LA….etc. I would like to see them protect her privacy a bit more based on the obvious distress I’ve seen her exhibit in some pictures. I do think they are trying very hard to project a “family image” and I’m sure that was the advice from their publicist, who by the way happens to be one of the best in the business.
Again, just my opinion which is something I’m entitled to. We can’t all be the same. If we were this place would be awfully boring!
I think it’s important that we all respect one another’s opinions, because that’s all they are, no matter which side of the issue we’re on. None of us are privy to the inside workings of Tom and Katie’s personal lives. I respect your opinions, Mary, Lauren and annie and I would expect that you respect mine too. Thanks.

Um….that’s what I said, Mary. You were the one who stated the the story originated with Fametastic. It didn’t. It originated with People which gets their information directly from publicists, hence my statement that the “source close to the family” was most likely Tom’s publicist.
My point was simply that they could have very easily kept the entire situation private. No one would have known that Katie flew to LA. Not a soul would know that they spent it quietly with the children at home. There’s no press in their livingroom!! LOL! They chose to share the information….that’s what I don’t understand. I strongly believe it would be it Tom and Katie’s best interest to keep their private lives PRIVATE and let their work speak for itself.
The entire problem for Tom (all the negative press et al) began when he decided to speak out about his private life and his personal choices. Had he not done that, he wouldn’t be in the situation he’s in today. He became personally controversial which is not in the best interest of an actor. Putting your personal stuff out there puts people in a position to have difficulty losing themselves in the role you play and instead, focusing on the personal. They see Tom Cruise the tabloid guy, rather than the character. Know what I mean?
If I were Tom and Katie, I’d keep their entire personal life private. Let people evaluate them based on their work and nothing else. I really think that’s in their best interest….atleast in my opinion!

But Charlotte Rose the People article states nothing about “a source close to the family”.
All it says was that TC/KH spent their second anniversary quietly in LA with the family.
A simple answer to a question it seems to me.
It’s Fametastic that decided to embellish.

CRose: I agree that TC is the stronger of the 2 personalities, and it is my feeling that KH would back down to his assertions. Just my opinion but KH seems meek and mild to me and would be an ideal mate for TC b/c he could never be married to an aggressive woman, he needs a woman who is submissive. Jada P. Smith would eat TC for lunch and spit him out. Now, I believe she is a tough cookie…hence, she felt the need to come to KH’s defense and mention to the media that KH is a “strong kitty” or some similiar type of reference. Yes, TC has traveled to NYC many, many times, but I still feel that Katie bends to his wishes. I will never feel that their marriage is on equal footing.

I think we’ve been over the river AND thru the woods. LOL!!
My point is simply that People could not have know HOW Tom and Katie spent their anniversary without help. They didn’t pull that information out of thin air. They had help getting private information. Where do you suppose it came from? No one saw Tom and Katie, so it would have to be from someone inside Camp Cruise….most probably a publicist. It’s the only thing that makes sense!

I agree with your post wholeheartedly. Seems you and I share the same opinion on the balance of power in Tom and Katie’s relationship.

If Tom could have kept his ego in check, he might still be one of the top earners in Hollywood. It’s hard to say, of course, but I think we can agrree that it started going downhill not so much after the couch episode, but after the Matt Lauer interview where he berated Brooke Shields and Lauer with his holier-than-thou attitude.
