While Katie Holmes is in Melbourne filming her movie “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”, Tom Cruise was spotted back in Los Angeles yesterday (July 16). Does anyone recognize who he’s with?
For some reason, while the paparazzi snaps away like crazy for pictures of Katie, they only managed to get this one blurry picture of Tom and a friend. So, there’s not much really to say about this, except for “Tom had dinner with some guy I don’t know!”.
I’m not sure if Tom will be headed back to Melbourne soon, but I imagine he’ll start missing his ladies very soon. Rumor has it that Tom went on a bonding trip with friend James Packer and that he was seen at a Beyonce concert getting his groove on.
Not much else going on in Cruise land at the moment!

Has anyone else noticed that when Tom is not with Katie and Suri, the paps seem to not bother much with him? He’s able to move around pretty well without the press catching him so they’re obviously not watching his home as they do when Katie and Suri are in town. On the other hand, the paps are watching the Australian set of Katie’s movie like hawks. They also seem to be watching the hotel where she’s staying with Suri since they seem very informed about her movements.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that it seems to me that Katie and the baby are what draws the paps these days, not Tom. IMHO, that’s where the interest is. Its just an observation on my part.

Saw a pic of Katie and Suri having coffee in a coffee shop in Melbourne a world away from LA, I mean, seriously why isn’t Tom with them. I’m really thinking that this guy just doesn’t stack up, and really I’m beginning to notice more and more that you only see what he actually wants you to see and nothing more. I’ve made no secret that I don’t completely trust him, and he makes it a bit difficult to think any other way sometimes. He made sure everyone saw him coming, and he seemed to make equally sure that nobody saw him going, or maybe he had a need to be at a Beyonce concert, I don’t know. I thought when I first saw the pic it was because he took his kids to the concert but it seems that is not the case. He is not making a movie , the same in New York, he was there for a few days then he didn’t turn up for weeks, she was in Germany for most of the time when he was filming. We’ll see what happens when he makes this movie with Cameron Diaz if Katie is going to be there and for how long. I realise that we only see things from the outside, but you can’t help but wonder .

I have to agree with your little rant! When Tom was in Germany working on Valkyrie, Katie was there for him, taking care of Suri and supporting him as he worked, but where is Tom while Katie is working in Australia? In LA. For weeks. He wasn’t in Australia for very long at all. That has always been my issue with him. IMO, he’s nowhere near as supportive of Katie and her career as she has been with him! I understand Tom’s older children live in LA, however, he’s always stated that his children are home schooled. He has the option of bring them to Australia or doing whatever he did when he was filming Valkyrie in Germany.
Why isn’t he supporting Katie and taking care of Suri? Why is it that Tom always appears to do what is best for Tom rather than what is best for Katie? The entire relationship appears one sided to me and that worries and bothers me. I want the very best for Katie. She SHOULD have his support and his presense while she’s working, just as she gave HIM her presense and support when he was working. As you said….it’s not as if he’s working!
I don’t fully trust Tom either.

I think we are being unfair on Tom, he has a company to run, he cannot up and go away for months doing nothing but baby sitting Suri while ignoring his work. Remember he runs UA. He was also being there for his friend Beckham. I am sure Katie understands. Their careers are at different levels and if they are OK with the arrangement, who are we to judge?

I’m not judging. I’m stating an opinion which is the whole purpose of a blog or discussion site. Isn’t that what you’re doing?
Anyway, Tom does not run UA. Mary Parent and Harry Sloan do. Tom owns just 15% of UA and none of MGM. I’m sure they consult him, but he does not run the studio. Thats common knowledge. Google MGM/UA. It’s run by the above mentioned people and their staff.
I think its far more important that he be with his wife than David Beckham. I understand that Tom has a career of his own, but so does Katie. She gave up her career and her time to be with him in Berlin when she could have been working. He can do the same. Maybe not totally, but thus far he has spent very little time in Australia. He’s not working. There’s nothing wrong with “babysitting” his daughter. It’s his daughter just as it’s Katie’s daughter. He has no less responsibility than Katie does.
Is this a female/male thing for you? Why should Katie understand? Why should it be considered “babysitting” when he does it and being a Mother when Katie does it. He’s Suri’s father. She deserves the same treatment from Tom as she gives to him. That’s called marriage. We also have no clue who is OK with the arrangement and who isn’t. Its my opinion that Tom is the much stronger personality and the one who dictates what goes on in the marriage. I believe it was that way from day one.
Of course this is just my opinion.

I didn’t say “that’s all Tom is doing” back in the States. I said he doesn’t run UA on a full time basis. He’s also going to concerts, hanging with friends…etc.
I’m sure he’s working but….come on…..he’s TOM CRUISE….he can make time to be with his wife. She doesn’t work that often!! I’m sure he is a good father. My issue is whether or not the relationship is equal and fair. I don’t believe it is. I think Tom does what Tom wants and Katie does what she can.
Since pictures tell us ALL only 5% of their lives which I agree with, either of us could be right. It’s all just opinion. Yours, Laurens and mine. We have no way of knowing who’s right and who’s wrong.
Hi guys..eveyone has their opinion on things, whether its right or wrong. I’m talking for me now. First of all, I really like Tom, love his movies, I have praised him, defended him, many times, and I have had a go at him many times. His religious beliefs and philosophies don’t bother me, because there’s good and bad in everything as there is good and bad in people.I don’t hold it against him what he said years ago, because there are others in the public eye who have done and said worse him and it doesn’t get raked up over and over like his does, but sometimes there is something about him that I don’t trust and I say it. Yes, sometimes the fact that he uses the same mannerisms on women he is with, when photographed, when he says the same things that he publicly said for Mimi, Nicole, he has said for Katie, the only different thing was he jumped on the couch for her. the way he took then fiancee Katie to have lunch with Pen Cruz and her family, the way she comes to his house. In interviews she says I’m so close to that family, Icare so much for him, thats well and good , but is Katie really ok with that , or is it just to please Tom, or was she so infatuated with him in the beginning she was very accomodating with everything.
Then you look at her huge weight loss, and how she looked in NY, there were times when she looked very unwell,and he wasn’t there that often , or at least it didn’t look like it, NY isn’t that far from LA is it? Things that were written in Moretons book concerning Katie , for me were a little tummy turning. Tom and his people must have realised what publicity that book was going to generate, why not co operate with Moreton, to tell his side of things especially where Suri an Katie were concerned at least. Why is everything so hard with these stars, and whether the people they have working for them are actually helping or making things worse for them. Now people who want to write articles or books or whatever are going to use Moretons book for reference. As I have said, this is what is seen on the outside and seeing that were are not privvy to the inside workings of their life, things might be better or worse than what we see. WOW hows that!

that man is probably a fellow churchmember and they spent the evening discussing how unfair it is that the rest of the world ridicule their beliefs in aliens etc

Lauren – I’d have to agree with you on this one. It’s funny how people see a few pictures of Tom at David Beckham’s soccer game and think that’s all he’s doing back in the U.S. He could be getting ready for a film role, helping out with film projects, etc…who knows! I do know he’s one busy man and a great father. He does have other kids to see and take care of too. I think it’s great they are leaving Suri in Australia with Katie so it’s more stable for her. Jet setting back and forth would be too much for a little one! Pictures only tell us about 5% of a person’s life don’t you think?
