On the same day that Tom, Katie and Connor went jogging, the family also went out to lunch at Charley’s Eating & Drinking Saloon on Newbury Street. Suri Cruise, who missed out on the jog, went along for lunch.
After grabbing a bite to eat, they headed on over to the Nike store to do some shopping.
Tom had a weekend break from filming and spent the time with his family. From what I have read, the family sure gets some stares when they are out and about town in Boston! No word on if Tom’s daughter Isabella Cruise is on the east coast with them, with her mom Nicole Kidman, or somewhere else.
In one of the pictures, it looks like Suri is upset and Tom is consoling her.

Good Lord!! What in heavens name does Katie have on!?!? The entire ensemble is just awful! A winter hat, a summer skirt, a fall cardigan!! Sorry but she looks terrible. She insists on finding clothing that is not flattering to her body type at all!
On the other hand, Suri’s outfit is really cute, Connor is so handsome and Tom looks seasonally appropriate. The only thing is, I wish they’d do something with Suri’s hair. She may not let them put it up, so perhaps they could cut it short so she wouldn’t look so messy all the time.
Does anyone think she could be pregnant? She looks different (in many ways). It would be a good thing.
To me, it looks like the paps are very close , in front of them actually, both Katie and Tom look annoyed , and Suri doesn’t want to look at them . OK I can understand that they have to take pics , but there should be a law that says the paps stay quite a distance away from a child. They don’t need to be in her face they have long lenses, that do the job. Wonder if they do it on purpose to upset Suri so mags can come up with stories. I think that is what happens!

They could avoid the paps if they wanted to.
I was actually at the restaurant when they got there. Everyone was in shock they were there but left them alone. I was at the table next to them. Suri was really cute, but didn’t want to sit down. Took off her shoes. Put her princess crown on Tom’s head. Didn’t eat, got upset when they wanted her to sit down and eat. After a while they left. They were quiet but very nice. I said to Katie that Suri was very cute and she smiled. They were not concerned about the paparazzi outside, they took their time and seemed unfazed. They are probably so used to it. People at the restaurant took pics on their phones as they left, too. Seemed like a normal family out for a normal brunch (minus the fact they are famous!).
That bodyguard looks too far away! Please, please, please give Suri some downtime from all this racket. She needs regular playtime with children her age. I wonder if their friends and family could take Suri to child centered events, like the zoo, pet store, children’s museums. What child goes to work EVERY single day with mom and/or dad? Think about it….That is a precious child that should be sitting in a playroom with activities appropriate for her age, not being dragged from store to store and set to set. She’s not a poodle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and they have enough money to dress in ways that make NO SENSE! It’s not pretty putting mix matched outfits together. That is a pretty little girl and you are dragging her around in clothes that look like something that is not fashion for a child. Scale back to normal with the clothes, this is a child, not a fashion victim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can write is that Katie’s outfit is horrendous, simply horrendous. Her ability to dress casually in a stylis manner is still in need of major assistance. I will never understand how sh ecould ever possbily leave her house/apt. like this and mingle amongst the crowds. That entire look makes no sense, and I will never understand her casual clothing choices. Her casual wear on set in Australia was adorable, chunky fishermen sweaters, faded jeans and leather boots…she looked great b/c she was told to wear those outfits b/c they were her costume if you will for the movie so why can she not take some lessons from her set stylists and dress in clothing that is not so rag tag??? Suri is mismatched but I give that a pass b/c she is little an doesnt know any better..she is learning her colors etc. but Katie…well, in my opinion, there is no excuse!!
Traci, the pics we see only show a tiny portion of their day, nobody knows what happens the rest of the time.
Kit, I don’t see how they can avoid the paps, without moving to another country, or locking themselves in their home and never venturing out.
There are a few pics of Suri standing up on chairs at various places, at a coffee shop in Melbourne, and the Beyonce concert. I think maybe she is a little bit spoilt , but a little kid needs to have some boundaries, and needs to know who is the boss.
I am beginning to think that Katie Holmes is color blind!
What was Katie thinking going out like this!!! that looks awful on her, OMG this time she made it big time. And I don’t think she’s pregnant, but if she is that would be great, I think is time it’s been almost 4 yrs since she had Suri, she needs a little brother or sister. Suri looks lovely as always, and Connor well he is handsome like his dad
I love that Katie will not allow the paps or constant criticism dictate how she enjoys her down time with her family including her choice of dress.

As a celebrity there are times to glam it up……….The red carpet is one of those times, family time shouldn’t be.
Too many celebrities make the mistake of letting criticism, tabloids, the paps along with other media dictate their how they live their lives.
The Cruise’s thankfully get on with their lives.
One may live in the constant glare but it need not take over every single aspect of a life.
I agree with you Mary. Katie obviously doesn’t care all that much about how she looks to the public. Otherwise why would she have worn that god-awful outfit. LOL!

Maybe that was a bit harsh, I saw the picture of Suri upset and just felt bad for her. She has and will have so many opportunities that most kids will never have. Maybe she is just having a tired moment like children do:)
katie need not glam it up for family time…..it might be nice to just at least match an outfit and not appear as if she went into her walk-in blind-folded and picked whatever was hanging and threw it on without any consideration as to whether or not it looked good. Honestly, I learned in grade school not to wear summer cotton/linen with a fall wool hat and sweater. Very weird choice of clothing she has on in these pics. Jen Garner looks very appropriate and not at all glam Mary when she is out with her kids….she wears sensible jeans, a tee, running shoes, a pullover etc. Her casual wear makes sense and matches……I will always assert that Katie’s choice of casual wear is odd, and many bloggers on other sites have remarked that this particular ensemble is odd.
Well, you know guys, I can’t agree with you, because I feel that Katie ”SHOULD” give a hoot in what she wears. By this I don’t mean that she should in anyway be like Victoria Beckam, all done up 24/7, but maybe just put more thought in what she wears sometimes, like her lunch outing with the family.
Ok, the skirt and shoes were cute, and I didn’t even mind the beanie,but the shapeless shirt, and that cardi was so wrong. That skirt was playful, why ruin it with those other unflattering layers. This is what upsets me with Katie, its like she can’t put a proper look togther.
She will wear something cute , but will ruin the whole look by some piece of clothing that spoils everything
That dress she wore in Japan, for eg, it was strapless, the colours were beautiful, the shoes were gorgeous, the hair was fabulous, and she ruined everything by wearing those stirrup tights, and this happens often. THE GIRL IS BEAUTIFUL, she just put out a clothing line, she wants and needs people to buy her designs, she needs to be taken seriously, people need to look at her and say, NICE, not shock horror, what is she wearing. Really I can’t imagine too many women looking too good with all their hair tucked under a beanie, but look how nice she looks with her hair showing under the beanie.
I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong, but if I was an actress and spent so much time in the public eye, AND have a clothing line, I would want to show people, I know my game , I know how to dress, and thats why I want to dress you.
Maybe I’m way off the mark here, maybe that’s not how it works, but that’s what I think, and I am one of her biggest fans.
If someone feels good and is happy, not hurting anyone or herself….she is doing nothing wrong and people shouldn’t judge in a negative way. I think she wants to wear what is compfy. I find it kind of funny that people get so wrapped up in talking about what she should and shouldn’t do. Not trying to upset anyone, but some seem to get too involved and bothered by her daily outfits. If we had think what the world thought on a daily basis because people were following us around taking pics, it would make us crazy. You can’t live your life worrying about every piece of clothing you put on and what person in the world has the time to judge it.
Annie, I agree with you. I love Katie Holmes and the whole Cruise clan, but I can’t stand the way Katie dresses the majority of the time and the thought of her coming out with a clothing line is just plain scary to me. If she expects people to buy her clothing and she wants it to do well then she should represent her “fashion sense” better when she is in the public eye. You can still dress in comfy clothes and look good doing it. She use to do it went her and Tom were just dating. I loved how she dressed back then, but it seems after she had Suri and got married her sense of style went way down hill. Unfortunately, I have seen some pieces from her clothing line that she has worn out and they are pretty terrible. I hope that the rest of her clothing line is better. I just think that if she wants to be taken seriously in the fashion world that she needs to present herself better in public instead of looking like a cheap mismatched mess. That’s just my opinion. Love the family, though!
I think what you wear should be up to you and not judged by others. What looks good is an opinion. I do not agree with all the opinions on what looks good. Type this in your search June 14, 2009 Beyonce Shopping in London. It was InStyle’s Look of the day. My opinion, yuck.
I am not saying I love what Katie is wearing but I do not care because I am not wearing it. If she wants to wear it that is up to her. I think is great she seems to not be putting a lot of thought into what she is wearing.
I wish every women did not care about what they are wearing and what others are wearing.

Of course it’s up to the wearer and of course these are opinions!! That’s all we have is our opinions. LOL! You’re here giving an opinion too. So what’s the deal? Should we just give favorable opinions and not be honest? Of course not!
Katie chose to be in the public eye and with that comes a certain amount of judgement. It’s part of the territory. She wouldn’t be famous without it. If no one was interested, she’d just be another face in the crowd. Secondly, Katie is now a clothing designer. With that comes the expectation of a certain amount of style which Katie is not showing most times. If she wants to be taken seriously as a designer, she needs to up her game IMHO.
I think celebrities as a whole are under far too much pressure to be “perfect” all the time even when doing everyday, mundane things. There has to be room for dressing down and not getting it “right” every single time no matter how much you’re photographed.
It seems to me that in her downtime Katie does not buy into that being “on” 24/7 anymore…………Maybe at one point she did. Now, no more.
Save the glam and smoke and mirrors for the red carpet, photshoots, etc.
With the Holmes&Yang collection: Vogue gave it a great write up in their September issue……….We’ll see.
