According to both Variety and ComingSoon, Tom Cruise might be attached to a new film project entitled “Flying Tigers”. Variety already has Tom attached to the film, while ComingSoon says it’s a possibility.
The movie is under the direction of Mission Impossible II guy John Woo (pictured above). The screenplay was written by Christopher McQuarrie, who co-wrote Valkyrie, so this teams Tom up with two very familiar faces.
The photo above is of Cruise and Woo from 2000 when they were promoting “Mission Impossible 2” in Taipei.
Here’s what John Woo told ComingSoon about “Flying Tigers”:
It’s based on a true story in WWII, about a group of American volunteer fighter pilots who worked with the Chinese Air Force fighting with the Japanese and they won the war. Also, it’s the story of Clair Chennault, and they did a great contribution for the Chinese, and the Chinese people love and respect them. The whole story is about a friendship between a Chinese and an American and they worked together.”
My guess is that this reunion of Woo, McQuarrie and Cruise is a definite possibility!

Oh please not again, ‘might be attached to this, or that movie’. Wonder why he didn’t do ‘Tourist’, its got such a catchy ring to it. I believe he is also doing MI4.
Tom has been “attached” to so many things that didn’t pan out, that I think I’ll wait for an official statement before I comment.
Annie, tourist had some scheduling problems, that is why Charlize Theron dropped off too. I hear Angelina Jolie is now attached to it so am not likely to watch it. It does sound like an interesting plot but it is still ‘hero saves the world’ so it might have been too stereotypical for Tom.
This however does sound very good. Lets see what develops.
