This Friday, February 6th, Tom Cruise will appear on ESPN2’s NASCAR Now at 5PM. The show will include an original interview where he talks about his interest in NASCAR and driving a race car at Daytona for his film “Days of Thunder”.
NASCAR season begins this weekend at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. Check out some excerpts from the interview below.
Cruise on NASCAR racing:
“You know it’s just…it’s just America. It’s something about driving in a car. For me as a kid growing up, I always wanted to race cars. I came up with the idea to make this movie about NASCAR, it’s just a piece of America and these icons who were there in the beginning and created this sport, you just see our history through time, our love affair with the automobile. It’s a very unique kind of racing that feels very American. Rubbin’s racin’, you know.”
Cruise on filming at Daytona:
“My personal Daytona memory is getting up close to 200 mph, personally driving on that track in the car. Having that opportunity to drive those cars on the track, meet those drivers that I got to meet. Making movies, I love it because I get to enter into a world and you meet these people, and the generosity that I’ve been extended by these people — whether it’s NASCAR or Jerry McGuire — it’s a great life because I’m interested in life and in engaging in life, and to have those experiences I feel very privileged.”

nao gostei de ver Tom no Brasil ele nao fez nada de interessante . Pesnsei que fosse conhecer a Xuxa, Ana Paula Arosio, FGaustao, Gugu, pensei que fosse ate Sao Paulo, nao fez nada existe praia em Los angeles e ele tem pscina na casa dele. Tb nao foi a escola de samaba conhece Luma de Oliveira , Katie nao apareceu em revista de moda e Suri nao apareceu em revista infantil. Tom nada fez tudo parece mentira sonho . Para mim ele nunca existiu nao passa de uma mentira inventada pela midia decepcao total. Espero que ele volte mas nem quero mais saber dele. Perdeu uma big fan
Ouch. I didn’t get everything Elaine says, but some of the words resemble Spanish, and she clearly says Tom just lost her as a fan. She said he did nothing in Brazil for the fans? That it all appeared to be a “lie” and she doesn’t want to hear anything more about him.
What did Elaine want him to do, he spent a lot of time with fans , saw him on the Insider, greeting his fans,he signed so many autographs, shook so many hands, he was perspiring like crazy, he kept on wiping his face.
