Tom Cruise left his New York apartment this morning and headed over to “The View” for an interview. I haven’t seen the entire clip (it airs tomorrow on ABC), but TMZ has posted a clip where Tom was asked about the death of Jett Travolta.
Tom was visibly shaken and said that the tragedy was horrific. He also addressed Scientology’s role in Jett’s death, since media outlets and others are blaming John and Kelly’s religious beliefs for Jett’s death (which I think is such a shame at this horrible time for them).
He struggled to find the right words, but explained that his religion does not prohibit people from seeing a doctor and getting proper medication. Watch the clip below.

[...] Cruise is back in New York, for a few days at least, and he has been a busy man. He appeared on The View, went on a date night with Katie Holmes and signed some autographs with Katie outside the theater [...]
I think anyone who judges the Travoltas at a time like this is sick. People do not know what they have done or not done to help Jett, and should mind their own business. This couple has lost their child, it is the worst thing to happen to anyone, and people should find it in them to respect that, no matter their personal views.
Hi Julie,
I’m a little confused about this bit of commentary you posted. It was my understanding that we are not to discuss Tom and Katie’s beliefs, but here it is right on the main page. Why can’t we comment about something you’ve put here? I’m not meaning to give you a hard time at all. I think you do an amazing job on the blog, but if something is brought up by the person running the site, shouldn’t we be able to discuss it? I think so otherwise it becomes very one sided! Just my opinion.
I THINK TOM HANDLED IT SPLENDIDLY. I HAVE A 16 YR OLD SON AND IT SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF YOU WHEN YOU HEAR THESE STORIES – MY SON USED TO HAVE FEBRIL SEIZURES BUT HOPEFULLY HAS OUTGROWN – TO TOP IT OFF – A SENIOR AT MY SON’S SCHOOL HAD A HUNTING ACCIDENT (ACCIDENTALLY SHOT IN THE HEAD AT 3AM ON SUN LAST WEEKEND). sO tOM YOU HAD A TOUGH SPOT THERE
vALKYMIRE WAS EXCELLENT!! 4 STAR – i THOUGHT YOU WERE GREAT. mY MOM INSISTSTED THAT WE GO SO WE WENT – i THOUGHT YOU WERE FABULOUS.
kATIE,
i AM NOT FLIRTING (GEMINI) i ACTUALLY THINK i MET THE ONE ON NEW YEAR’S EVE! i AM 48 – IT’S ABOUT TIME – WISH THE BEST TO BOTH OF YOU.
P.S.
HAVE YOU SEEN “THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENAJAMIN BUTTON? EXCELLENT – MIGHT WIN A MAKEUP OR SCREENPLAY ADAPTATION – – F. SCOTT fITGERALD IS A BIT MELANCHOLY BUT THEY ADAPTED THE FILM PHENOMONALLY!
Hey Charlotte,
Thanks for the compliment.
This is such a hard one for me because things used to be SO out of hand discussing his beliefs, so I had to be extremely strict.
I do try to not discuss it as much as possible, but this was such a big news story and the way that Tom looked as he was answering the question just really struck me.
It’s the bashing of his beliefs that won’t be allowed. I wouldn’t allow that on any site I run, no matter what a person’s belief system is. As long as the discussion doesn’t turn into an anti-Scientology thing, then I don’t mind it.
Does that help at all? lol
Julie, we “bash” things here everyday in one way or another. What, in your mind, makes one’s belief system off limits? I don’t get that at all. As long as one doesn’t issue threats, it shouldn’t make any difference. You’d have a lot more participation on this site, if you wouldn’t censor.
As far as I am concerned, the participation on this site is just fine. I run this site for a company and have been given guidelines. There are many many other places you can discuss his beliefs more openly…TomKatCrazy is not one of them.
Bashing someone’s fashion sense or the fact that Tom’s at the Golden Globes and not by Katie’s side, is totally different than bashing someone’s beliefs. Censoring is a part of this site when it comes to Scientology…that’s just the way it is.
I Think it is such a tragedy for this young man and his family. May God with touched by his loss.
