When Tom Cruise said he “has some things planned” for Katie Holmes’s 30th birthday yesterday, he wasn’t joking. Tom and Katie were actually a part for her birthday because he was in Los Angeles promoting “Valkyrie”.
Her birthday just do happen to be the same night as the “Valkyrie” Los Angeles premiere. Well that stinks! I am sure Tom wanted to be there for her. But since he couldn’t, he made sure she felt very special.
Tom sent Katie a giant 5-tiered cake birthday cake. An audience member said that it looked like a wedding cake. The cake was wheeled out at the end of the show and John Lithgow was there to say, “Tom Cruise, our good friend, devoted fan to the show, doting husband of Katie, could not be here tonight. He’s heartsick that he couldn’t be here … but he wanted to make his presence felt. So, he’s joining us, inviting all of you, to celebrate Katie’s birthday.”
The audience then all wished Katie Holmes a Happy Birthday.
There is other news that Tom and Katie will be apart for a big event – the Golden Globes. Tom Cruise has been nominated for his part in Tropic Thunder. The show airs on January 11th, which just so happens to be the last show for “All My Sons”. Talk about their crazy schedules clashing!
So, I guess that means Tom needs a date to the awards show. I just checked my calendar and I am free that day. How convenient!

That was a lovely thing to do,Katie must have loved it, I believe she brought Suri out and they blew the candles out together.

I was there. It was really sweet, and she did bring Suri out while the audience sang Happy Birthday. The play is absolutely awesome, and she acted really well. Patrick Wilson, Dianne Weist, and John Lithgow were superb as well.
This is totally off topic, but the last few days I’ve seen some dreadful pics of Katie, to the point where they are actually quite worrying, aside the cold sore thats hung around for a couple of weeks, she looks ill, drawn, gaunt , and every other awful word you can think of, I feel so sad at the way she’s become, I went back 2years only at the way she was and you would’nt guess that the girl back then and the girl of today are actually the same person, these last few months Katie has really gone down hill in a big way and you really can’t help but ask why, her face is half of what it used to be, she never wore make up alot of the time before either, but she had a healthy glow and her eyes were alive and her smile was so pretty, now her thiness has aged her and now you only get rare glimpses of what used to be healthy and pretty. I feel saddened for whatever has happened for her to have become this way, I don’t like seeing her like this , it really bothers me, a lot of things go through my mind but I won’t discuss them, I just hope she works on her health.
Yeah, I saw those pictures, too. They were on JJ and Katie is looking rather sickly.
Katie has two more performances before she has a two day break.
She’s had a very busy few weeks both professionally and personally………..Hers and Bella’s birthdays, the play and it’s extra performances because of the holidays and the Valkyrie premiere.
She’s a very hands on person and she does look exhausted…………..Ti’s the season!
She’s had cold sores way before she met Tom and she’s quoted as saying she had them even as a child.
At the NY premiere Of Valkyrie she looked quite lovely……………..Mario Lopez of Extra got to talk to her.
Julie: why are you not posting the JJ pics of Katie….she looks very exhausted. She is running her self ragged and if she doesnt take some much needed time for herself she may collapse. The schedule, and the pressure is becoming too much for her. Her immune system is wearing thin, hence, the herpes simplex (otherwise known as in the laymans term…a cold sore) is still apparent on her lower lip. The girl needs REST and to spend her down time alone and not gallavanting at the Nutcracker etc.
I agree that Katie is a very hands on mum and have said so many times, she wants to share things with Suri, not have a nanny do it in her place, and its not her cold sore, but she hasn’t looked well for a while and I don’t think its the season, she needs to put some TLC back into herself, when the play finishes I hope Tom takes her someplace nice where she can relax and unwind, she looks like she needs to look after her health a bit better.
