Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise touched down in Tokyo this morning (March 8). They arrived at the Narita International Airport after an 18 hour flight and were greeted by hundreds of screaming fans.
At this point, I am not sure why they are there, but hopefully will find out soon! As soon as I do, I’ll update this post with the info and also more photos. Until then, +1 photos below of the whole family.
Update: It appears they are there promoting “Valkyrie”. I just saw photos of them boarding a helicopter from the airport and it was a promotional “Valkyrie” helicopter.

Suri looks like sh ereally is becoming a young lady! She looks so tall in this pic even though her mom is holding her. I wonder if Suri will be blessed with Katie’s “height” genes. I sure hope so! If she has Katie’s genes and gets tall like her mom she will be stunningly beautiful and perhaps a model one day!! On a bad note, Katie’s dress is, well, just plain awful. And those boots with it? Oh my.

Suri is beautiful, God love her, although she looks uncomfortable with the crowds and the attention as usual. I wish Tom had chosen to fly into one of the smaller airports and make a less grand entrance into Japan for Suri’s sake…..although that wouldn’t be Tom, now would it.
He seems to love his grand entrances and all the attention it brings. He is promoting a film.
Katie looks as if she just rolled out of bed. The outfit definitely isn’t my taste, but to each their own. I know it was a long flight but perhaps she could have taken the time to spruce up a bit before getting off the plane. Slap on some lipstick maybe. She or the nannies could have combed Suri’s hair too. I know some little girls don’t care for barrettes or headbands so I can understand that might be an issue with Suri, but a good brushing would help. She’s a gorgeous child.
As for Tom, he looks as ON as usual. He seems to be always ON when he’s in public. As if he’s performing. It just seems unusual that his family doesn’t look the way he does. The only word I can think of to describe the difference between Katie and Suri and Tom is INCONGRUENT.

so bizarre. And she looks great skin, hair, but for goodness sake, this one may even make the last page in PEOPLE. Its like Punky Brewster meets the Golden Girls…..

CRose: I agree….long flight commands some extra hydration and lots of freshening up of the lips and face. I checked out a video of them entering the airport and I felt bad for Katie b/c she stood back while droves of screaming women and fans begged TC for his autograph. She looked tired and probably wished she had some sensible flats on with that dress as she stood while he signed his name for hundreds. I agree C Rose: TC is always on and that takes a tremendous amt. of energy. I have acted and danced/sang my whole life and I know many actors that are always “on” as you write and its exhausting. Friends say I am always “on” as well and to extent that may be true but thats why I need alot of recovery time in between outings!! I do not know how Katie can keep up with TC…I assure you I NEVER could.

Yeah, I saw a video of them arriving at the airport. I don’t understand Katie’s outfit either, but what I REALLY don’t understand is why does Katie not cover Suri’s head or protect her more. When they entered the airport Suri was covering her ears with her hands and burying her face into Katie’s shoulders. I think all the flash bulbs and excited fans seem to scare her (as loud noises like that would freak out any one, especially a 2-year-old). I kinda felt like Katie was showing Suri off more than being protective of her. I doubt that was her intention. Its just the visual of a kid looking somewhat distressed kinda disturbs me.
Saw heaps of pics at Suricruise Italia they were lovely, Suri was ok with the fans, she just looked a bit tired, its only the paps she doesn’t seem to like,she certainly took a liking to her new bag , I don’t know how many of you have children, but it isn’t easy lugging around a 3yr old, standing and walking around with her, as for the outfit its a bit different, but I like the coat and boots.

This isn’t Toms first trip to Japan, he was there for MI3, probably was there for THE LAST SAMURAI premier as well, I’m sure I’ve read somewhere he’s been heaps of times to Japan, theres a national Tom Cruise day in Japan, because he is so popular there.
Annie: thats weird then that Tom says to the reporter that this is his first time in Japan. Why would he lie….you can hear it yourself when they interview him on the video. Maybe the films you mentioned were shot in other parts of the world that you thought were Japan? Listen to the video…you’ll hear him say it!

Good grief, but that is an utterly ridiculous outfit to wear on an 18 hour flight – - much less anywhere. Katie, what’s wrong with a nice pair of jeans or slacks? Suri is darling, but a party dress? Does this little girl even own some jeans or casual attire? Tom appears to be the only family member dressed normally for a flight.
Jenna I don’t hear Tom say this is his first visit to Japan.
The reporter in the Reuters video said it was in her commentary.
What Annie wrote is correct.
There are tons of videos and articles on Tom’s previous visits to Japan.
Jenna maybe you could post the link to the video where you say he clearly says it’s his first visit.
Mary: whoops….I am incorrect….you are indeed right……the reuters reporter said it was his first time in Japan; he did not say it. I listened more carefully the second time around and only the reporter mentions it….sorry, my bad!!!
Suri is not a happy child. Everything around her is so frustrating, flashes, cammeras etc…So sad.
