Top 5 Daytime Talk Stories of 2007

Here’s a look at my top 5 daytime talk show stories of 2007.  Well, there were a lot more but it’s New Year’s Eve and I want to go celebrate!  Here are the ones that came to mind:

#image5 – Oprah Becomes a YouTube Star!

The "Queen of All Media" has added one more notch to her belt – a YouTube channel.  We can all now go and subscribe to her videos (too bad they don’t allow sites to embed them!).  It’s great because she sometimes puts behind-the-scenes footage.  You should check it out!

#4 – Regis Philbin Has Heart Surgery

Regis PhilbinLive with Regis and Kelly host, Regis Philbin, underwent open-heart surgery, further fuelling the rumors that he will retire sometime in the near future.  He pulled through the procedure like a champ but he has taken a number of days off.  Will we see a new host in 2008?

More after the jump!

#3 – Rosie O’Donnell Has a Heck of a Year

rosie o'donnell First, while still on The View, she began a public feud with Donald Trump.  Plus, her on-air bickering with Elisabeth Hasselbeck left little doubt that she would be leaving the show.  Then, after Bob Barker retired from The Price is Right she announced that she was hoping to take over his job (Drew Carey was ultimately hired).

#2 – Whoopi Goldberg Joins The View

whoopi goldberg I was surprised but pleased when Whoopi Goldberg was announced as the new moderator on The View and I feel that she’s done a great job so far.  I’m not as thrilled about the other new co-host, Sherri Shepherd, but that’s another story for another day.

#1 – Ellen’s On-Air Doggy Woes, Apologies and "Scab" Accusations

Ellen Degeneres This was an interesting last bit of the year for Ellen Degeneres.  I’ve recently blogged about it but Ellen has shed tears, on camera, about a dog named "Iggy," been forced to apologize for her antics and for calling The Bachelor star, Brad Womack, a jerk and crossed the writers’ strike picket lines.  At least her ratings are up, right?

Well, I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to see what 2008 brings to daytime talk shows!

Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!!!

I am now boycotting The View since they were ignorant to Mccain and his wife.
