Top Chef's Gail Simmons Repping New Line Of Cookies

Last week, while I was out of town, one of my very wonderful readers, Ellen Killoran went to an event and got to meet Gail Simmons of Top Chef! Gail joins her Bravo colleague Bethenny Frankel in becoming a Pepperidge Farm spokesperson. Gail was representing Tim Tams, a line of Australian cookies now being distributed by Pepperidge Farm. Here’s her take on the event:

GailsimmonstimtamGail Simmons came out from behind the Judges’ Table last week to celebrate the U.S. launch of Tim Tam cookies at the South Street Seaport. Crowds gathered at Pier 17 to sample the beloved Australian snack and catch a glimpse of the Top Chef judge and Food & Wine critic, up close and personal. Tim Tams have been a personal favorite of Gail’s since long before her Bravo days – the Canadian native has family ties down under, and she’s thrilled that Pepperidge Farm is bringing the chocolate biscuits to the U.S. (But not their cultural by-products: Bizarrely, no Pepperidge Farm employee is permitted to discuss the “Tim Tam Slam”, the Aussie-based ritual of fashioning a drinking straw out of a Tim Tam).

When asked if we should expect to see a Tim Tam tie-in on Top Chef, she said that as much as she’d love to see a Tim Tam quickfire challenge, “Believe it or not, I don’t make those decisions.” But although she might not be in line for Executive Producer, we can expect to see more of her as Season 6 kicks into high gear. “I never leave for good – I just take an occasional pause.” She was tight-lipped about any finale predictions but shared our enthusiasm that this season’s competitors have taken the show to a new level. “There’s so much drama, but it’s all on the plate. It’s exactly what Tom and I had been hoping for.” Tim Tam cookies will be available at nationwide supermarkets until March 2010, or until Gail eats them all. Just kidding.

Gail has not eaten all of the cookies, because Pepperidge Farm sent me about a few packages this week. Despite the fact that I am not naturally thin, I don’t think I can handle all these Australian cookies all up in my kitchen. So, I’m going to give away 3 packages to three lucky BravoFan readers! If you’d like a package of the cookies, please comment with a valid e-mail address. I’ll pick three people randomly next Wednesday. Good luck!

I normally don’t post comments, for some weird fear of looking like an idiot(no the irony is not lost on me), but I’ll do anything for cookies!!!

Me want cookies! Actually what I now want to do is make a Tim-Tam Slam and post it on my blog, just to be ornery. mwahahahaha. That probably means I’m getting no cookies, right? D’oh! Why must I reveal my diabolical plans beforehand? It always ends up like Wile E. Coyote and the RoadRunner.

Oooh, I hadn’t gotten to the part that they won’t be available until Mar 2010 and I already told my roommate who is so excited! I must win. Thanks!

I tried them just once when I was in Syndney and would love to try them again. I am now just waiting for the Target near me, in Pennsylvania, to offer them for sale. Thanks!

Oh my God, please let me win the cookies, if i can’t win the cookies, could you at least post a picture of the winner eating one of the cookies so i can post hateful comments about “how she’s too big to be enjoying those cookies, or how the crumbs on her face don’t match her handbag or something like that.”
