T.R Knight Wants to Exit Grey's Anatomy

Premiere Of Fox Searchlight Pictures'

Okay, so earlier I blogged that T.R. Knight wasn’t leaving Grey’s or that at least the rumors of him walking off the set weren’t true. Well now it turns out that all the other rumors (his unhappiness, potential acting out) are very true indeed. In fact, the actor is currently negotiating to be let out early from his contract.

What does that mean? It means the sixth season of Grey’s may not have George in it! The exit might even come earlier than next season, as no one seems to know when it might happen.

According to Ausiello, both ABC and Shonda Rhimes are content to let him have his way. So it doesn’t look like there’s much of a chance that he won’t be let go.

Wonder if that means his best friend, Katherine Heigl, will be following suit?

Another shocker to add to this already surprising (or not surprising, I guess) news is that T.R. Knight was not the actor that Ausiello meant in his blind item. That means there’s another hit show (hopefully not the same one!) that has a potential exit at the end of this season.

What do you guys think of this? I know there’s a lot of big George fans. Is this a deal breaker for you in terms of watching the show? Or are some of you glad to see George depart?

*sigh* George has always been my favorite. This is a bummer.

His story line HAS been pretty lame for the last few seasons–even if he doesn’t have much of one right now.

I like to think that TR is leaving as a result of how ABC has handled their LGBT stories the last few years. I am sure that in reality it has nothing to do with it, but in my head he is sticking up for Brooke Smith!!! Let me live in my fantasy world. In all seriousness though, I will miss George, but his storyline has been pretty lame-o this season. So good for TR getting out whil he still has some dignity left.

As far as Auseillo’s blind item…I am thinking Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU. She hinted to Ladies Home Journal that she wanted to leave the show soon to spend time with her son. Also, her and husband Peter Hermann are trying for baby number 2. Her contract is up at the end of Season 10 (this season).

agree with Heather, maybe he’s frustrated w/ the exit of the lesbian storyline or the fact that he doesn’t have a storyline (although it seems as if he’s going to be the one to find out about Izzie). But I agree with tina too. I don’t really care I never really liked George, he doesn’t have a backbone! And if he left now I don’t think I’d notice he’s had like no airtime recently, the most has been the flood.

aww, George is definitely my favorite. buttt, it’s true that he hasn’t been very interesting lately. I would say that I am more concerned that Katherine Heigl will follow. I mean..no George and no Izzie?! That would be terrible!! :[

Way to go, T.R. … get off the sinking ship while you still can! Seriously, I’m glad to see ANYBODY leave the show these days, because the current storylines and character assassinations have become unbearable. Also, the way the lesbian storyline has been handled so far is appalling. Hmm, this whole thing reminds me of Dr. Hahn’s wise words: “Karma rocks.” (grins) Still, the show might still find a way to get back on track (as unlikely as it may seem right now), so I’m saving my celebrating for the end of this season. ;-)

Good riddance. His character was infuriating. I did not really see anything redeeming about him. He was a spoiled crybaby. Glad that he’s going.

NOOOO! He cannot leave! My life will seem so incomplete! Grey’s is really taking a nose dive though. They don’t seem to be able to hold on to actors very long. It’s going to be a very sad day when george joins the others in the grey’s anatomy grave yard
