Boy, that last post was a downer, wasn’t it? Thank you to everyone for sharing your thoughts and opinions, it was much appreciated. However, here are two good news bits for us to read about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
First of all, Roseanne Barr has apologized (more or less) for her attack on Brad and Angelina the other day. I guess she was hoping for a bit of controversy and wound up a little stunned by the incredible backlash. On her blog, she wrote:
“I do not know Brangelina. I do not mean to personally impugn them as they might be good people in the flesh, but the media’s images of them are smelly and vile, and I must always attack the media’s representation of what is good or cool.
She went on to slag people like me – the bloggers and media people who immediately picked up on her attack. Please, that’s what she wanted, she just couldn’t handle the heat when so many of us rose to Brad and Angelina’s defense. I don’t mind, she can rant about me if she wants, it certainly won’t affect my life or career!
In other good news, the first group of houses for Brad Pitt’s Make It Right foundation are just about completed.
While complaints of bureaucratic sloth persist, Pitt’s foundation instead provides a striking example of a private entity taking the simplest of plans — build houses where the flood knocked them all down — from idea to execution in a relatively short time. As of today, Make It Right has raised enough money to build at least 84 houses, with an ultimate goal of financing at least 150 houses in the Lower 9th Ward, said Tom Darden, the foundation’s executive director.
Currently six homes are in the process of being built, and hopes are high that at least one will be fully completed by August 29th. Those residents have been without proper homes for so long that it’s about time they get them back – and good for Brad for being the one behind it all.
One resident even said, “the answer to our prayers — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.”
Please check out the full article here. It’s so heart-warming, especially on the heels of accusations that the Jolie-Pitt family doesn’t do enough.
(Two administrative notes: 1. Comments that are disappearing are actually going into the moderation queue, I don’t know why you guys aren’t getting that message anymore, I’ll look into it. 2. Reader Leila from Iran – I got your emails, and I’m trying to set you up with someone who can send you People/Hello. I’m not ignoring you because of where you’re from, when I try to reply to your emails, they bounce back telling me the email address doesn’t exist.)

Neela, I answered your question about the Sacramento Film & Music Festival but it’s being held captive under moderation. This post might end up in purgatory too. :sigh:
Sonja, I understand
I believe that Brad and Angie do give more than anyone else, but to get off track here I need to say that with all the good they do Angie is not showing her kids how to forgive. She has still not let her father meet her children. I know he did her wrong but who doesn’t make mistakes? I would have thought after losing her mother she would have put her past aside and let him into her life. Soon he won’t be around either. She is going to make mistakes with her own children and would she really want them to cut her out of their lives forever? That is what she is teaching them, though they probably don’t even know they have 2 grandfathers. I feel very sorry for Jon Voight and for her.
Thanks for posting the great news about MIR and for having a positive site. I visit your site on occasion but will put it on my to do list to visit more often. It is nice to read positive information without a bias slant. Thanks again.
angelh – See, we don’t actually know what went on between Angelina and her father. We don’t know every moment of their history. While seeing them reconcile would be wonderful, I don’t think it’s anyone’s place to say that she should – that’s her personal decision and she’ll make it based on what she knows, which is far more than the rest of us.
who Roseanne should have dumped on:
CELEBS GONE BAD – a comparison with Angelina and Brad: http://www.concierge.com/ideas/hotels/tours/2715?page=0
And here I thought Simon Cowell wanting Brad to play him and Jenna Jamison wanting Angelina to play her in their biopics was bad enough – this tickled my sense of the ridiculous:
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt want to have a “clan” like Brad and Angelina: adopted and biological kids. “We’d be so lucky to have a clan like that,” says Heidi. She also says: “I used to want to be a missionary… Go to the U.N. for World Hunger and really, you know, not just go there for a safari, but go there to actually help.” Lord help us all. I don’t know that Angelina single-handedly (it seems to me that way) started the current movement of generosity in Hollywood, but I think she helped jump-start it. It’s wonderful when people share their wealth and spread it around – give back to the community and pay it forward.

Nicole Richie has joined the ranks of generous celebrities as she prepares for the official launch of her children’s charity with rocker boyfriend Joel Madden.
The new mum, 26, and Good Charlotte singer Madden, founded the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation as they prepared for the birth of their daughter, Harlow, in January.
The pair started out asking friends to make donations to the charity instead of giving gifts to their baby daughter, in an effort to assist struggling mothers in providing for their children.
A source tells the New York Daily News, “She’s hired some pretty high-powered consultants to advise her and put it all together. The website will be a registry, like for a bridal or shower registry, where low-income women list things they need for their babies. More well-off people will then go on and buy stuff for the children.”
I live in Thailand, I’m not so interested in celeb’s news or gossips. But, I adored both Angelina and Brad. According to me, they are one of nicest, kindest, and most generous people. I also think, they are ‘the couple from heaven’. What or how they were in their past, they mean and belong together.
I bought Hello!. I’ve never bought this kind of magazine, I bought this one only because of Them. I wanted to see how cute the twins are, and I wasn’t disappointed, they are soooo cute!
Also, all of their family look so happy including their adopted kids. God bless them all! God bless the couple live happily ever after. Amen.
By the way, sorry for my poor English, it’s not my native language.
^_^
Ligaya, it takes all kinds to make a world. Heidi and Spencer are always good for a good laugh each day. I thought her maybe getting the pope to do their vows was priceless. What a joke. As for Nicole and Joel they strike me as two people who do really care and not just doing it to look good. It appears that alot of the young stars that were having so much bad press are getting it together. I am going to try to express something here and I hope everyone understands what I am saying. The news about Clay Aiken and Ricky Martin (both favorites of mine) are now parents. Ellen and Portia got married this weekend Lindsay and Sam appear to be quite happy and all in all the press and comments are not to bad. I say if you are happy than it is not anyones business how you live your life. But my goodness if Brad and Angelina even sneeze the bitterness and hatred comes out right away. This as long as I live will always confuse me.
Kasmira, welcome to this great international communitywe have going on. Hope you will come often to Pittwatch, we have so many great discussions and so many different thoughts and ideas. So I look forward to hearing from you again. Your English is fine, just write it and we will all understand it.
Welcome, Kasmira. I’m not sure, but I think we have others from Thailand in our Pittwatch community.
I know what you mean, Mary Ann. I think there are many reasons why the JPs are unfairly reviled. I’ve thought about it for a long time, and will share my thoughts another time.
I’m very happy for everyone you mentioned. There’s been progress against homophobia, but I know there are conservative media, churches and people who are vehemently opposed to gays and lesbians.
UNDER MOD:
Welcome, Kasmira…I know what you mean, Mary Ann…
G’night – tired from running around doing all my errands. Painful as it is, I’m tearing myself away from my Pittwatch addiction so I’ll be ready to go out of town (including my mom’s visit).
Thanks a lot for so many updates – especially the one with the New Orleans homes. I’ve been wondering abougt it for a while.
