Tyra Banks sat down with New Zealand television station 3 News to chat about America’s Next Top Model coming to Auckland, Kiwi food, fashion, people and more. She has nothing but wonderful things about the country.
“One of the reasons we wanted to come here was because of the terrain. It is so absolutely beautiful. I hate that I’ve been in Auckland and haven’t really been able to experience New Zealand like my crew has,” she said.
The host also gets Tyra to critique the top girls from New Zealand’s Next Top Model and Tyra talks about how she’s running out of photo ideas for ANTM.
Her endless gushing seems a bit over-the-top. I get she’s all about positive energy, but I find it hard to swallow sometimes. Her story about the super polite kid is cute though!

Just wondering…What impact does Tyra feel she REALLY has imposed on the fashion industry? I thought she wanted increase opportunities for Women of Color (particularily black women!) in high fashion. But when I watch the selection process in the Top Model show, it looks like she is using the “same ole same ole”. I’ve seen her pass up so many beautiful black women. Then I hear the excuse for the ones that are selected that they have that “look”. How is she going to change the mainstream modeling image if she is using the same philosphy they are. It’s called CHANGE for a reason. I would like to see Tyra succeed in getting MORE BLACK women on the run way, but I’m so disappointed right now. Too few are getting in. Tell Tyra to work harder!!!

at least tyra admits now hats there is a certain politic of the show as to choosing a winner. what she just said made me realize even further that the best girl doesnt win.
