Tyra Banks to Receive BET Award

Adding to the many award shots on television, BET will be launching their own this upcoming Saturday, the BET Honors.  The taped show will be aired on Friday, February 22 at 2 pm EST.  America’s Next Top Model hostess Tyra Banks will be receiving an award for her contributions to African American media.

Other honors to be awarded that night will be to singer Alicia Keys for entertainment, Dr. Cornel West, University Professor in the Center for African American Studies for education, and Richard Parsons for corporate citizenship. A public service award will go to Judge Maxine Waters and the entrepreneurial price will be given to CEO Janice Bryant Howroyd.

The event will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and will include appearances by Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Wyclef Jean, Danny Glover, Kerry Washington, Vivica A. Fox and Hill Harper.
