Here’s a blast from the past, from Ugly Betty episode 1.10, “Fake Plastic Snow”. Many UBN readers list 1.10 as their favorite Ugly Betty episode ever. It’s fun to see Wilhelmina get in “the Christmas spirit”:
Marc has discovered that Wilhelmina is trying to take over the company via “The Mystery Woman”. As we know, that woman turned out to be Alexis (Rebecca Romijn), who was actually Daniel’s brother Alex, post-reassignment surgery. The voice of The Mystery Woman sounds nothing like Rebecca Romijn, and it’s fun to think that the writers at this point probably had no idea what they were going to do with the character.
Marc uses his discovery to his advantage, starting with the small gesture of taking Wilhelmina’s usual whole wheat bagel. The insinuation is that his demands will escalate.
Later, he is going through the presents under Willie’s tree, when she walks in, so he hides. He overhears her calling Alexis, saying that she is going do do something that will silence Marc permanently.
Later, at a Christmas party, Wilhelmina approaches Marc with what appears to be a hit man. They take Marc to the garage, but when it looks like they will kill Marc, she instead gives him a Hummer as a bribe. She then says, “Merry Christmas, Marc”.
(I want to know, whatever became of that Hummer?)
I hope your holiday celebrations have been wonderful, and, although it would be kind of mean of me to wish you a Hummer in this day and time, how about a Prius? :)
