Here is the second, more substantive video sneak peek for Ugly Betty episode 2.18 (Jump) – which is the show’s season finale. A WHOLE lot in the romantic department happens in this video.
I love Ignacio’s reaction (pretty much what would be my reaction). I also love Justin’s “I’ll get the recap later” after they start discussing the subject of Betty’s virginity.
Someone said it before, and I’ll say it now: I sense an airport scene cliffhanger. Of course, the show hasn’t moved to NYC yet, so they couldn’t actually film it at JFK, but airports are airports.
What I want to know – is this Henry’s first appearance in the episode? He shows up after a hard breakup, and the first thing he does is gets down on one knee?
We won’t know for sure till next September, but I say Betty’s going to reject them both – one permanently. The other one will still be around, flirting and wooing, but I would guess that Betty will be more independent and most of the drama will focus around work next year. Just reading between the lines of several interviews with the creators of the show.
We’ll see!

Whoa I think a lot of you guys need to take a breather and relax a bit-there’s no reason for insults to be thrown around here or cheap shots, loves. I hate to say this, but UB is really just a tv show…which I myself take too seriously at times, but it is what it is.
-And I also think a lot of you are being biased-which is very understandable, over what guy you want Betty to end up with and who you don’t want her to be with in the end. What I mean is that Henry and Gio are both great guys who make Betty happy. They are both “good” enough for her and treat her well. With that being said, the truth is, both guys have flaws and negativities that don’t always help or influence Betty correctly. No one can say that Henry or Gio act “perfectly” towards her all the time.
I think that is what is losing sight here- we are all, including myself, glorifying our favorite guy character, when in reality they are written to be “human” characters who make simple and somtimes complex mistakes. Not one of these guys on the show is perfection.
We all just happen to disagree, when we find what characteristics we personally like better out of the two guys and believe who is better for our favorite heroine in the outcome.
And I honestly hope this post isn’t twisted around to look like something negative or condescending, because I am not calling any certain person out, I just think it’s getting too serious in here and some of you are being very unfair towards these male UB characters.
I do agree with some of the posts above me however. I think Betty should be single for a while and then figure out where her heart fully lies. I think she would be too stressed to make a decision so soon on the season finale.

You know what’s weird? I’m sure there must be thousands of Ugly Betty fans out there in the world, but it seems to me that I see the same names having the same arguments whether I’m on this site or ABC or fanfiction or youtube. Everyone gets so rabid, like they have to choose one position and sink their teeth in in and never let go. I like Henry, but you know what? I don’t hate Gio. I find his character amusing and likable and I’d be very happy if Freddy Rodriguez continued on the show. I wish that the writers would have given Betty more time between losing Henry and having her head turned by Gio, but I guess the strike is to blame for what seemed like (to me) a really forced fit for the B/G storyline last week.
Over the past few months I’ve heard (mainly Getty-shippers, sorry) protesting that Betty is too young to get married and become the step-mother to Henry’s baby, but I have to disagree with that. For some women, 24 can be a perfectly acceptable time to do just that. For other women, they might feel like they’re too young when they’re 38. Betty isn’t really ugly, what she is is “homely”; a word that is often used to suggest a certain lack of beauty but what it really means is natural and unaffected. I’d bet if Betty was a real person and we sat her down and asked her, she’d include things like marriage and family as goals she hoped to achieve within the next five years. I think that the writers could work with the Henry/Betty pairing as a marriage, and that little Hank Junior could offer them plenty of bumps in the rocky road of romance. That said, I don’t think they will. At this point, I’d say they might have to go their separate ways for a few seasons and finally figure out what we Betty/Henry shippers have known all along – that they’re the OTP – just in time for the series to end with a wonderful weepy wedding.
In between that time and now, I don’t have a major problem with Gio being the guy who occasionally pops up to make us worried about our endgame.

Oh p.s.-I am not saying no one is allowed or supposed to criticize Henry or Gio-no there is a full right to do that…I just think the posts should be mature and have merit. Which a lot of you have done above me.

Ack! Normally I can get away with moderating comments about twice per day (the blogging software inexplicably marks some comments as needing moderation – it’s supposed to be a spam-blocking tool).
Anyway, today it’s been more like once an hour.
I just wanted y’all to know that if your comment doesn’t show up for a bit while others do, I’m not playing favorites.
I just finished watching DWTS (Kristi has it in the bag!), and I came back to 3 comments awaiting moderation!
I’ll admit, it’s kind of fun having this kind of intensity here. You should be free to argue as vigorously as you want for your side, but I can’t allow personal attacks. Some of you have really walked close to the line, but I’ve let it go for now, because the discussion has been so good.
We are all passionate for UB, that much is clear.
I think there may be over 10 million viewers this week (Survivor is out of the way) for the first time since season 1.
Don’t blow this, Silvio.
He is the lone writer for this episode, and the director is Victor Nelli Jr, who directed Odor in the Court (great), Something Wicked (eh..), Family Affair and Secretaries day (great!).
Everything is in place. There is so much at play, this could be an incredible finale, or one big mess.
I can’t wait to find out.

Whatever happens, this is gonna be an interesting finale. Well, whoever she chooses we all know it ain’t gonna be permanent because it will be Daniel/Betty in the end. That’s why I try not to be too invested in Getty or Benry.

cindy, are you serious? I comment at every UB community I can (except for the ABC message boards, which are a mess). Yes, I comment at IC, and at B&B. I put out a call a couple of months ago for a Getty community, and all we could find was the fanlisting ABRFB, which I added to the blogroll.
I would post the same comment at a Gio board that I did at IC. I would also compliment members just as I did at IC (there are some very articulate and thoughtful Gio fans. Each ship has those, and also has some…er…colorful personalities.)
However, I do believe that there ARE more Benry fans than any other group – that doesn’t make them right, necessarily. I don’t think pointing that out constitutes partiality.
That being said, I never said I was impartial – I’m on the Detty ship for now :)
I want everyone to feel welcome here. I won’t stop saying nice things to people at their place just to give an air of impartiality.
I still would like to have a Gio board to link to and comment at.
Those who said we all need to take a deep breath have been spot on.
I have been very patient here. Please return the courtesy.

Haha yeah I think its definately safe to say that the writers are getting what they intended on- drama. We all have our own opinions and I think in general every ship/group should be nicer to each other. I have actually completely stopped going to certain messege boards (such as the ABC one) due to the rudeness and immaturity of some people. We need to respect each other. Arguing isn’t going to change what the writers have in mind.
But yes Silvio said we won’t find out who she chooses until next season, so at least we all know our favorite guy (whether it be Gio or Henry) will both be back.
And as for Henry only being one dimensional (sorry I gotta defend my favorite accountant!), we have learned SOME stuff about him such as the fact that grew up without a father, now its just the writers part of whether they decide to expand on that type of stuff or not. I would actually like it if Betty and Henry took a break for a while so we could get to know Henry more as a character instead of just being there to be Betty’s cute nerdy boyfriend ;)

Ok, I realize that I myself got a tiny (ok hugely) bit carried away last night and i want to apologize for any comments that may have offended or generally irked anyone.
I know that we Benry fans are just as passionate as the Getty fans in who we want Betty to be with. I spoke out of much frustration, which was completely out of character for me (I’m really a nice person, honest). We can respect each others opinions and offer up our relationship choices without bashing and being disrespectful.
We can ALL agree i think that no matter what the outcome of the finale is, everyone here who’s posted or just dropped by that Ugly Betty is a wonderful show and that we all hope it continues well into the future!!!!

I am an HB shipper, but I have generally liked Gio and not minded the idea of GB. On the other hand, in the last episode I did find Gio grating. While I understand that part of his appeal is his pushiness, he could have waited a bit longer than two weeks after Henry left to make his move. Seeing as he wants to be the guy rather than the rebound guy, he would have had a better chance at this if he had let Betty really move on from Henry first and separated himself from that relationship. It was quite clear in 2.17 that she wasn’t over him, as shown when she slipped up and said ‘love’ which she then corrected to ‘loved’, what she wanted to feel and convince herself she was feeling, despite her feelings for Gio as well. However, I think the rushed nature of the GB is more a result of the reduced number of episodes than anything else.
I also think that it is much too soon for her to be accepting a proposal from Henry. I think he loves her so much that he is unwilling to truly accept the end of the relationship which generally made them so happy, and this has made him a bit desperate, and she would be right to refuse it. I even think that she should maybe go to Rome with Gio; as she says in the sneak peek, she doesn’t get opportunities like this, and I think it might be good for her to go and have a month having fun and then come back refreshed. Ultimately, however, I think she should choose to be single as that’d be the best for her. I would like Henry to be back on the show, though, as I think his character needs time to grow as well, away from a relationship with Betty.

Michelle I totally agree-I stopped going to ABC.com for the same reason. And because I am a H/B lover, it’s hard to find the positive over there.

Good morning
I would like to speak a little about your words, firstly this is a series which we pay whenever pleased with the look I think we are all OK!
As far as the relationship Betty and Henry I think unfortunately (without offending anyone) that it is a story that could only last a little imagine Betty between Charlie, the baby and Henry because I think it is what arriverais remember the episode as 2.16 Betty was sad to no more Henry refused to Charlie then nothing good I well but there are limits!
And in addition maintemenant it will come back with a marriage proposal but forgive me but it is pity because there 15 days he suggested to see Betty every 15 days and that Gio s’intérresse Betty because I do not see that That is why he asked her to marry him! For he must realize he has lost Betty and another will make Betty happy he does not admit may be what is logical.
I am sorry if I offended anyone but this is true.
Regarding Gio I do not understand I have read several comments which said that Gio had a bad influence that Betty but I do not think he wants the contrary it just kind of his comfort zone and thus make happy .
If it was so bad boy than you’ve had to believe he would not like all this time without ever saying anything and never try anything wrong with it!
The only moment where he is tried in his shop because there was Henry and he noticed that Betty had feelings for him.
Besides remember the scene between Henry and Gio said he did not go to Henry to join Betty!
It is full of bad intent for Betty would not have reacted like that!
All that to say that I am a Getty Fan and I want it chooses Gio the bottom of my heart!
On the relationship Betty / Henry and Betty / Gio
I amuse myself to make a video for you Benry Getty and therefore come to see it and tell me what you think and be honest with yourself because you may be surprised to see all these similarities!

I want to sorry if my English is not perfect but I am French LoL.
I wish you a good day at all Benry and Getty fans because for me it is all for the same thing not?
THE SHOW!

Hey, I just wanted to stop by and say that I’m sorry if my earlier posts came off a little nasty and unnecessary. Sometimes I get kinda caught up in the moment with a show I’m passionate about, so I’m sorry if I offended anyone. Like Geeklove5 said, I’m a really sweet person if you get to know me, and I’m sure everyone here is, too. It’s funny– I reckon if we knew each other in real life we would be friends. :)
I’m sure you’ll all agree, it’s fun to debate and makes watching the show much more interesting. We all know the feuds aren’t real, just a clash of opinions, but sometimes we get a little frustrated when we can’t persuade others. It’s not a big deal, it just seems kind of serious at the time ’cause we’re all in the middle of a heated discussion about something that we all have strong opinions about. In the end, we all just love UB.
You probably hate me, but hell, I love you all. And that includes people of all ships! Gimme a hug, Benries! *MEGAHUGS* ;)
I love this show. And whatever happens, I will still love it.
PS… Can I start a new ship? Do you know how much I would love Gio/Henry? LOL!

I think that made that will end the relationship Henry and Betty because I saw Tomatish who said that Gio could bring something new in every episode this is true it may be éspiégle, nice, attentive, funny, aroggant and full of emotion as in the 2.17 look at his face when he sits on the steps with Betty is not it attendrissant …
And then I also think that for Henry is the end because if it does not accept its application for marriage that he wanted to propose greater thereafter as a proposal to marriage is really something ‘extrodinaire that a man can do to a woman is not it? If it accepts this trip to Italy, Gio able to offer him much more me personally I still think that Gio is the guy! Then we must say it is full of ressoures this guy is!
I wish we knew in the 2.18 but good if it was not until 3 in the season j’attendrais growing fingers to choose Gio.
Just one last thing you know the scene after that Gio’ve embraced when it is in that mode we see a half-eaten sandwich she would have more ahahah appetit! I think it is really loving Gio because of my home in France when you are in love and that you eat the more you said “live love and fresh water.”
And then also when crying on the march I think it cries because she did not think what tomberais love as soon someone else Henry and more Gio!!
So this is my opignon!

Haha, I can understand Chio… Putting the two people that stand in the way of Benry together. I dunno… I can’t really imagine them together. But I guess I’m a little biased, huh? ;)
Hmm. What else can we invent? Betty/Kenny? Henry/Christina? Gio/Amanda? LOL.
Um, anyway, back on topic… I can’t wait to see the softball game. Willy pitching, Naomi guest starring, Gio and Henry competing over Betty… it’s gonna be awesome.
I saw a new promo where Henry chokes Gio. It’s a dream sequence though, I think. It’s hilarious. But isn’t it Gio’s turn to hurt Henry now? ;D

After that look he gave her in 24C I believe Gio thinks Amanda comes from another galaxy but it would be hilarious to see those two trapped somewhere ;-)

Hahahaha, Tomatish–I thought the exact same thing when I read the Gio/Amanda pairing. As much as Marc and Amanda tease Betty about Gio, I think more screen time with them and Gio would be pretty flippin’ hilarious. Much like when they went to Henry and called him Grubstank. That is one of my favorite parts of BWP. I loved their reaction when he gave them what for about the pride he has in his name.

Yeah that one was so funny. I like seeing TV characters loose it. It’s a good test for the actor’s skills.
Back to the airport scene (it’s driving me crazy). Since we are going to see that Betty will make a move but won’t know who she chose, I think both Henry and Gio will be leaving for Tucson and Rome around the same time. Then, the airport scene can be related to both and Silvio has his cliffhanger to drag us all the way to September.
