Update on Steven Vander Ark and the Harry Potter Lexicon

lifestyle Pictures, Images and PhotosIn this week’s court ruling, it would seem that JK Rowling and Warner Brothers were the clear winners. However, an article from the Christian Science Monitor points out that perhaps Steven Vander Ark didn’t come out too badly after all.

For instance, even though his book “The Harry Potter Lexicon” is halted from being published, RDR Books is definitely planning on appealing that decision. Here’s what they had to say:

Thank you for your support of the Harry Potter Lexicon, perhaps the most famous yet to be published book in children’s publishing today. RDR Books has agreed to temporarily postpone release of the Harry Potter Lexicon while the case brought against publication of this book by J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. is heard in New York Federal Court. Please see our statement on the progress of the case . We will continue to update on our legal defense of author Steve Vander Ark. Because we have agreed to not take new orders until the court makes its decision at a February 8 hearing on the plaintiff’s request for an injunction, you can still buy any of our other books. If you have already ordered the Lexicon and would like to have your prepayment refunded simply email us. Otherwise your payment will be held in an escrow account until the court decides if we can ship you the book.. RDR Books welcomes your support for our significant legal expenses in this David and Goliath legal battle. You can help us defend the rights of authors like Steve Vander Ark and readers everywhere by buying our other titles on this site or at your favorite bookstore. We also welcome contributions to the RDR Books Lexicon Defense Fund. All contributors will receive a free autographed book from RDR, ideal for Christmas giving.

In addition, Steven Vander Ark is currently in the UK researching his next book, a guide to Harry Potter travel sites. I’m pretty sure since his name – although probably not in the manner he intended – is always going to be linked with JK Rowling, this next book (as long as it doesn’t quote from any HP books!) should do quite well for itself.
