This weekend I caught up on all the new episodes of ABC’s new show V, though it wasn’t too hard. All four total episodes aired in November.
Now V fans will have to wait until March 2010 before new episodes will return. January would have been fine with me, but March? By the time March rolls around, people will need a refresher on the first four episodes again!
The first four episodes did do a good job of introducing us to the main characters, the Vs and the people who are becoming the resistance, but a lot of questions remain. Plus, at the end of the fourth episode, all the four major characters Erica, Father Jack, Ryan and Tyler were all faced with cliffhangers.
Father Jack (Joel Gretsch) faces the biggest obstacle – he was stabbed by a V who saw him when they were fleeing from the warehouse. But as a major character, I’m sure he will survive. Plus, I want him to develop a romantic relationship with Erica down the road!
Ryan (Morris Chestnut) learns his human wife Valerie (Lourdes Benedicto) is pregnant. This is more than likely a problem because Ryan is a Fifth Column V and his wife doesn’t know. Plus, is it possible for a V and a human to have a baby? And did the V’s scan of Valerie’s body show anything that could cause her problems in the future?
For Erica (Elizabeth Mitchell), she learns that Tyler (Logan Huffman) has been hanging out with the Vs. She doesn’t know yet just how deeply involved he is either.
Tyler has feelings for one of the V’s, Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) but doesn’t realize that in some ways he is being used by the Vs. In the fourth episode we learned that Lisa is the head V Anna’s (Morena Baccarin) daughter. To make matters worse, Anna must have asked Lisa to pick out the perfect human for something special. Lisa says Tyler is the right one. Does she want to reproduce with Tyler? If so, what is their reason? Because Anna seems pretty happy about it. Poor Tyler doesn’t understand what he’s got involved in.
Chad (Scott Wolf) also has a problem. The V’s health scan found that in the future he will have a brain hemorrhage that will kill him. They say it can’t be found with modern technology until it will be too late. But they can heal him, if he will do something for them. I’m sure he’s going to have to promise to do only positive news for the Vs in exchange.
At the end of the fourth episode, we also see that the 26 V ships (peace always) that are hovering above the major cities, are not the only ones out there. In a far off galaxy, hundreds more V ships are coming, headed to Earth for something that we have yet to learn that they want. Is it just our resources or is it something else?
And what do you think of the storyline about the flu vaccine?
What are your thoughts about V? How do you feel about the show not returning until March? What do you think the Vs are up to?
