Vanessa Hudgens Joining the Cast of "Sucker Punch"

Zac Efron’s girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens has had her name added to a cast of young women including Amanda Seyfriend, Emma Stone, Abbie Cornish and Evan Rachel Wood for an original screenplay by Zack Snyder (Watchmen).

The movie, set in the 1950s, is described by Snyder as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns,” and centers around Babydoll, a girl confined to a mental institution by her stepfather and under orders to be lobotomized within five days. The young woman imagines an alternate reality where she begins planning her escape, and in that world she needs to steal five objects to help get her out before she is “deflowered by a vile man.”

Though Seyfried (Mamma Mia, Big Love) is negotiating for the lead role of Babydoll, Vanessa is trying for Blondie. No word yet on when production begins or when the movie will be released.
