Okay, we were barely willing to tolerate corporate appropriation of the Double Rainbow (the purest meme in existence!) even when Bear Vasquez was promoting it himself for Windows. Disney’s use of the Double Rainbow idea to advertise their new Rapunzel film (Tangled, you guys, out November 24th!) is just downright confusing. Who is this even marketed to? People who love the cultural references usually found on Family Guy, but also pay $12 for children’s cartoons? Plus, once you pick something that’s too based on pop culture, you risk having obsolete jokes in 5 months. (Sorrrrry Shrek.) Not to mention that making a double rainbow joke here is sort of a stretch…well, you’ll see for yourself.
