I kept meaning to post this! Katie Holmes walked the carpet and answered a few questions at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards, where she was being honored among several other amazing women.
You can tell Katie was asked some questions she didn’t want to answer. I can’t imagine how unnerving it must be with all of those lights flashing in your eyes, cameras and microphones in your face and trying to answer questions…some rather uncomfortable ones I assume!
Katie did say that she was “excited” to be there. She was also asked if there is anymore dancing on TV in her future and she said, “You never know”.
She was also asked about Suri and her love for fashion. Katie said that Suri "loves clothes and she picks out her own clothes” and that Suri gave her a thumbs up for her outfit.
does anybody have any pics or a video showing what Katie wore to the scientology center’s anniversary gala held in london the other night? Julie deleted my earlier e-mail about this question. If you read US magazine or Perez Hilton they claim that KH TC Suri Travolta and Kelly were all in attendance at his historic event. I would love to see what she and Suri wore to this ceremony…..Julie, if you have any pics please share!

I do like Tom and Katie together as a couple, but every time she speaks I feel I am listening to a 12 year old. And clearly she is programmed and not naturally answering any questions. So contrived…”I am excited, perfect, wonderful, happy”…whatever. Give us some substance!
And Suri picking out her own clothes…that explains the three inch heels.
There is a better interview at access hollywood, she’s more relaxed. Katie is a lovely genuine person but I’m afraid we won`t be able to see that or her goofy side anymore, at least not in the short run. She’s far too preocupied to say something that could be taken out of context. As a long long time fan, I can say that she is more articulate, funny and interesting than we see here, but the media frenzy of the beginning of the relationship has had a consequence on her. This is it.
I think we need to remember that ths interview was not made more for TV. It was made for print, which is why the journalists are holding tape recorders. The paps just happened to get a video of it.
We’ll never know who got her the award, but clearly she knows as well as the rest of us that she was out of her element here. Maybe one day, but certainly not yet.
Oh dear. I agree with you kelly. The hesitations and the looking at her minder for responses really got my attention. It’s as if she’s not “with it”. I don’t get it. The Katie I knew before TC wasn’t this person and the person she is now is only fanning the flames of the “Katie is being controlled” stuff. Had she been articulate and acted as she always did, these questions would not be coming up. Like it or not, Katie has changed and I really don’t believe its simply due to being preoccupied. This is her job!! It looks more like a total lack of confidence in her own ability to communicate for herself!! WHY??
I am also very sure that Katie was aware that her conversation was being filmed since each one of the E shows (Entertainment Tonite, Access Hollywood, Insider, etc….) were right there with their cameras and their on air personalities!! Those weren’t “paps”! They were Entertainment news organizations that have been very, very kind to Katie (and Tom) thoughout her (and his) entire career.
Sorry, but the “new Katie” scares me and upsets me. It’s not a matter of being “goofy”. It’s a matter of being the intelligent person she is who can speak for herself without the help of her publicist or her minder. She always did. What the heck happened!!

I think she’s very aware of the questions she’s asked and how she answers because sound bites are always used against her and Tom.
Along with the Access Hollywood interview, there’s also a fun interview with Extra………you really see her personality shine in that one.

I don’t see it as programmed but as protection in that soon or later they well get tired of asking the same questions all the time and if she did not answer that way all the spin and innuendo that could come of it.
As a long time fan I remember she did not want to share much while in other relationships.
Kit, please don’t tell me you are one of those people who think that Tom buys her everything. I’ve never been able to understand that, what he buys her Broadway, buys her Elle. For the past few years he doesn’t seem to be able to help himself, let alone Katie, as far as I’m concerned the media does whatever it wants with these two, its got them both by the throat and thats it!
The media hangs onto every word she says and then goes and creates story after story. That’s how Katie always used to talk when interviewed from some function, the only time she was a little goofy was on those late night shows. I’m one of those people who asked why Katie was there, when most of them had oscars and awards , but I don’t know how it works, its the first time I’ve taken any notice of the event.
Why does she appear to interview so uncomfortably? It’s really boring to hear her “ummming” and not answering anything and she just appears so insincere. OK, I really do get that things she says are taken out of context and so she has to be careful, but as a fan, this kind of reticence is wearisome.
Honestly though, how many times can you answer the same question …does Suri choose her own clothes?
I think part of her maybe wanted to be there and another part wasn’t into it. When she’s happy and comfortable, she’s confident and she shines, like at the Independent Film a few months back. Her whole demeanor spelled confidence that night. The questions she was asked and answered were intelligent and she spoke confidently and intelligently, because she has done a few, so she belonged there. Even what she wore, how she posed to have her pic taken , was so confident, not so at Elle, she wanted to blend in, not to stand out at all.
You all know, I’m one of Katies biggest fans, and I often think she always has been underestimated, and she could easily be the most beautiful, but she lacks that most important ingredient in Hollywood, hunger to be noticed and that ambitious confidence to sell herself, like other actresses do. Patricia Clarkson said that Katie was one of the most charasmatic young women she ever met and was very true to herself. Although very commendable, everyone knows that doesn’t get you anywhere in this business. I think the bottom line is , maybe Katie is too nice a person, she wears her feelings on her sleeve , sometimes you see her struggle, you can see when she’s up, you can see when she’s down, usally its keep on smiling in Hollywood.
The other day I came across some pics from Feb 2005, at the Vera Wang fashion show, I remembered how much I liked them back then…..she’s lost that look, its only 41/2yrs, there was a playful exurberance in her face thats not there any more(and the hair was so beautiful in those pics) . I do miss that Katie.
Who was the ponytailed woman next to her that seemed to be keeping an eye on her? Is that the Scientology companion who has been seen with her before? Or was she part of the staff for the evening?
I think the woman is her publicist, Ina Treciokas.

No, I don’t believe he bought her the award. Magazines are hurting in a big way right now and are looking for every angle to make a sale.
Annie, please don’t tell me you honestly believe Katie was up for that award?
Jenna – I don’t think there are any pictures from that event. I would think security for something like that would be so tight. I’ve searched and haven’t seen any pics, evens from the bigger mags and blogs.

There must be a method to doing these sort of things, Mary was saying , Isla Fisher was chosen to be a nominee last year, is she any better than Katie, no.
Does anybody know how I can see the Extra interview. Maybe I’m typing in the wrong thing , everything comes up except the interview with Katie.

Now more than ever, Katie needs to be confident and assertive,now more than ever the eyes of the world are going to be on her, because she is no longer just a wife , mother ,actress, she has become a fashion designer, a business woman. The worlds media and ordinary people will be looking at her in a different way and will be judging in a different way. Katie is this position now, where she has to come up with the goods every time, she goes out,and will be making a big mistake if she doesn’t, because people will question her
Katie is married to her prince, who is making one dream after another come true for her, he might open the door, but she has to put in the work.
I found her comment, the one that she said , at school they liked her, but she never felt that she was as good as them, very telling, somehow I don’t think things have changed in the way she feels about things today.
After watching the video I feel that Katie is very guarded in answering her questions and rightfully so since she and Tom have been ridiculed so much since the beginning of their relationship. Yes, some people want more substance in her answers but your getting a product of bad media attention!
I really like Tom and Katie, I wish she didn’t have to be so guarded in these interviews however she is growing up and changing. She’s a mom now so the questions aren’t centered around her and Tom.
