Two weeks after CBS announced that they would move the Emmys up one week to a September 13th air date, MTV notified them that the Video Muisc Awards are slated for that date. Oops! Now CBS has had to go back to their original air date of September 20th.
“After we announced plans for Sept. 13, MTV informed us they were locked into the same day for the Video Music Awards, with venue and sponsorship agreements in place. We had the flexibility to move; they didn’t,” said Jack Sussman, CBS’ executive vp, specials, music and live events. “It’s best for the industry and the audience that these events not compete against each other.”
What was the reason for the Emmys to try and move the date in the first place? The NFL announced that they have a double-header on the 20th. Now that the date has been moved back again, the Emmys will be up against the Dallas-Giants game.
Well that’s just great! I want to watch both the Emmys and the Dallas game.
