Could it be the reason for Sanjaya making it this far be the votes are being skewed as an intentional attempt to sabotage the show?
The VoteForTheWorst website has created a grassroots campaign to basically promote the latest version of William Hung. Okay, Sanjaya’s not that bad, but the intent of the website is to put through the worst singers to illustrate a point that the show isn’t really about talent, but about good reality TV.
Now why do the producers do this? It’s simple: American Idol is not about singing at all, it’s about making good reality TV and enjoying the cheesy, guilty pleasure of watching bad singing. We agree that a fish out of water is entertaining, and we want to acknowledge this fact by encouraging people to make an even funnier show by helping the amusing antagonists stick around. VFTW sees keeping these contestants around as a golden opportunity to make a funnier show.
This is just annoying, but it makes for a good conspiracy theory. Now, if only we could actually prove it’s true.

The selection process for American Idol may be directed towards viewer entertainment initially but for the contestants it means way more than that. I agree that the selection process is VERY entertaining and it’s no suprise that Randy, Simon and Paula are not involved until the latter stages–since they have to wait until Paula sobers up–of course. I ask you–who cares???? However, once the final 12 are chosen it is VERY real–especially to the 12 finalists. Now, don’t get me wrong–they signed up for the process so they deserve what they get– BUT—I think that “www.votefortheworst” robs the very most talented contestants of the chance that could change their lives and it’s demeaning to the contestants that are being made fun of and fills them with a false sense of hope. In the meantime it completely robs the contestants with real talent. I know it’s not like voting president (wish voting for president was less corrupt) but, don’t be sheep… I( know its just reality TV–but, think for yourselves–that is–if you give a shit…..
I cannot beleave that someone would take afamily show and turn it into a carnival .sanjia should have already been gone and what;s really sad it american idol is doing this be funraiser this year for needed children so stop and think when you vot all the great singers we have oof instead of the ones that should be gone.sanjia already thought he should have been gone just look at his face everytime he isnt.this is whats wrong with americas today we need to stand up for whats right and not some joke on a young man like sanjia
Votefortheworst has single-handedly made American Idol good again. every week i look foward to Sanjia and his butchering of music for the one reason that I watch the show: It’s funny. It’s not like it hurts anyone; winning the competition doesn’t really matter in terms of record contracts. The good ones (Malinda) will get contracts no matter what happens, while fox will be stuck with Sanjia if he wins, having to put him in all the comercials and stuff, which could be helarious.
Votefortheworst started voting for sanjaya only after he reached finals. In the semi finals they were rooting for Sundance and Antonella but both got voted off. I think there is more to Sanjayas votes than VoteForTheWorst

I believe Sundance and Stephanie and another really good female singer were voted off because of the website encouraging them to “vote for the worst”. It is a cruel game and not fair to these better singers who worked hard to be where they are on American Idol. It is also unfair to the American public who watch the show. It is similar to vandalism or graffiti..Messing something up alot of other people have been following and enjoying over the years.
We are left with just the extreme’s, the best (?) and the worst. Because of the skewed voting there was no chance for those three to prove themselves over the weeks and become number one by having wonderful performances (i.e. move ahead of the pack) as happened in previous season. Some of those people might have gotten record contracts from going further in the finals. Voteforthe worst.com has denied them that.
What this website is doing is sad and will surely undermine American Idol. I would be surprised if there was another season of it. I guess that’s the point. It is also cruel to the “bad” singers, who think they are good, but are really the butt of a cruel joke. Do the people who created votefortheworst.com have a better public talent show to replace it???? Obviously Simon intends to make money off the “star” he discovers each season. He is not just looking for a good singer, but also someone who will sell alot of records like Carrie Underwood. It is a business for him. That may be why some of the “great” singers did not get chosen in the preliminary auditions. Obviously they put together a diverse group of people who “go to Hollywood” for the entertainment factor. Is that so terrible??
