The prime suspect would be that guy, Howard Stern:
Sure, she was on diet pills and who knows what else, but Smith also had a brand new husband partner, her lawyer Howard K. Stern. Seems a bit odd that her and her son would both die within months of each other, and you know, there’s a lot of money at stake. The early guesses are saying it was likely a heart problem.
In addition, seemed like her mom realized that Howard might’ve been trying to make a power play:
In October 2006, Anna Nicole Smith’s mom, Virgie Arthur, told Nancy Grace on CNN Headline News that after the death of Anna’s son, Daniel, she was concerned that Howard K. Stern was the one in line to inherit Anna’s millions.
"If Howard Stern marries her and she ends up dead, then who does the money go [to]? Danny’s not there," Arthur said.
In addition, reports are surfacing that Howard Stern was being seriously considered in the investigation of Daniel Smith (Anna Nicole Smith’s son) untimely passing:
Anna Nicole Smith’s longtime attorney and partner Howard K Stern is fighting tabloid reports he was responsible for the death of the actress/model’s son Daniel last September (06).
The lawyer admits he was stunned by claims he was seen flushing Methadone down the toilet at the home he shared with Smith in The Bahamas shortly after his partner’s son was found dead in the hospital room where she delivered her baby daughter.
Daniel died of a lethal drug overdose.
Stern insists there are people who are out to set him up for murder, and he’s appalled by their "despicable" behaviour.
Did he do it? Did Anna know?
Oh, and then there’s all that money:
Smith’s daughter, now possibly in line for a massive inheritance, is being claimed by two fathers, attorney Howard K. Stern and entertainment writer Larry Birkhead.
Lastly (for now), there also this little tidbit:
Smith’s lawyer Howard K. Stern insists that before Birkhead started working for the model-actress, he had signed a confidentiality agreement with her that he would not talk to the media on the matter.
Birkhead, however, claims ignorance about signing any such agreement, though he contends that the potential financial penalty of appearing on TV news shows will be worth it if he wins the paternity battle.
"This is my child; it doesn’t matter what the penalty is… I’m just defending myself," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
The "Agreement Not To Communicate With The Media" consent form was obtained by news show ‘Entertainment Tonight’ prior to Birkhead’s latest interview, telecast on Tuesday night.
It features Birkhead’s signature and initials and a handwritten addendum that states, "If I breach this agreement then I will pay a liquidated damages sum of ten million dollars, and any money received would revert back to Anna Nicole Smith as damages from any breach."
If Anna’s money all goes to Howard in the event of her death, then he gets an extra $10 million from his main rival for her money affections. Pretty Machiavellian, I must say, but I guess we’ll see as time goes by.
UPDATED: What are the legal ramifications of Anna Nicole’s death? Here’s one lawyer’s opinion:
This is assuming CA law controls which is really uncertain right now.#1 If Anna died without a will, then everything would go to her daughter, UNLESS she and Howard K Stern were legally married.#2 If she and Howard K Stern were married, and there was not a will, then one half of the estate would go to Howard and the other half to her daughter.Here are some possible issues-#1 If Howard believed he married Anna Nicole Smith, but in actuality did not, he could still be afforded the rights of what is known as a putative spouse.#2 Inherited property is separate property which means that even if she was legally married, the money Anna was receiving from her deceased husband can all be left to her daughter if she provided for her daughter in the will.#3 Mr. Birkhead is NOT entitled to any money even if he is the father, and would probably not be able to touch any of his daughter’s money except for Health, Education and Welfare. HEW would be her necessary expenses. In this kind of situation, that money will be tremendous and Mr. Birkhead will no doubt live large, but HE will not actually own anything.#4 Even IF Mr. Birkhead is judged to be the father, he would not automatically gain custody of his daughter. The court would decide who would be the best parent of those who petition the court.#5 Her son’s death should not have any effect on this proceeding.
#6 The money she is going to get from her deceased husband is still in litigation. The fact that her adversary in that proceeding is also dead will mean that it will be an estate vs estate battle.

also as a last thing for now – for the most part i think that most people would let this rest upon the conclusion of drug overdose because of how she always comes across like in her reality show like she is on something. um hi; has anyone ever thought maybe thats how she WANTS people to see her, as a dumb pretty blonde? if she didnt like it, she would not have acted that way. She just had a baby. That would have to mean, she carried this baby while being a total drug addict in front of him for nine months and he allowed it? or that after her son died she would start to do as many drugs as what killed him, knowing that she has a new baby depending on her now irregardless of her not having a son? god. what a mess.

and now i just read something re: some rumor that anna’s baby could be fathered by frozen genetic material from her dead billionaire husband as some kind of trump card… if annas husband didnt have something to do with this somehow; its hard to understand exactly why he would let anna self destruct or her son, or even really be able to deal with it on a daily basis. but say he did have something to do with this right? he must be pretty damn sure that his baby if he was willing to kill anna nicole for it. ive read since i posted that they dont even have a legal union. as a lawyer, that kind of doesnt make sense, what was the reasoning for it in the first place… and you know; they ruled annas son’s death a combination of whatever and whatever… um most people arent really dumb enough to not realize that they are taking a potential dangerous dose of something… but what worries me more is that after the results from the private ME were released, the issue was not really persued further. i hope this doesnt happen this time. she could have easily died from something naturally but something seems too messed up here for me to believe that she died naturally even if thats what they tell us eventually. makes no sense what so ever. anyway also one last thing, if her son’s death was methadone and some other shit – i would seriously have to think that if he was abusing drugs regularly that anna would as a parent like, not buy her son’s methadone at least? because if she has similar things in her system, like i mean my mom doesnt run out and buy drugs for me… maybe a new battery for my lappy but not a lethal combination of things. and if she did, i doubt other people would allow her to keep enabling. anna was not dumb. you dont become famous without there being a reason.
Interesting that Anna Nicole’s autopsy has shown an inflamation of the heart, which is a sign of MRSA, she was hospitalised in november for pneumonia (also a sign of MRSA). Her inheritance lawsuit rival E. pierce marshall died from MRSA, and her son dies from a drug combination which he was not generally taking.
I think that the Lawyer did it. He was keeping her drugged. He was there when she and her son died. He is the only on who knows where the baby is. Either the baby will die next or he will run off with her. All he wants is Anna’s money. I hope he rots in jail.
this dude killed both of them by providing them with the prescription drugs, got them hooked, and then slipped them each leathal doses. perfect crime in theory, i dont think it will be easy to prove but that piece of shit is a sketchy jew lawyer with half a billion within his grasp.
i definitely think that anna was murdered. unless both her and her son were ODing on trimspa, it seems highly unlikely that this would happen. This is a huge tragedy. I’m not by any means her biggest fan but the news of her untimely death really had a powerful effect on me for some reason. The way I see it, her husband / lawyer would be in a good position to know all of the inner workings of Anna Nicole’s finances and what is going where. He does not seem like the type to commit murder but; with Anna’s son out of the way, and now Anna too, if Howard is not provided for in Anna’s will, he will most likely gain some kind of control over the money as their daughter is only a couple months old. With all the questions floating around about who the child’s actual father is, I think that if Howard is to receive any benefits from any of Anna’s money that a paternity test should be required for him to at least be allowed to control the money until their daughter is of age. Also, I wonder what possible coincedences may exist between Anna’s death and Daniel’s if any. I hope that the public is eventually made aware of the ACTUAL cause of the death of Anna Nicole Smith, and that this is investigated to the point where a death made to look accidental or an overdose-related incident is not where it ends. If you liked Anna or didn’t like Anna, in every instance that she had to appear publicly, she always came across to me as a genuine person, albeit she was at least stoned. To think about her being killed for her money is horrible to think about. I don’t know if I would consider her life and death a tragic existence or more rockstar.
What a tragedy.
