She was beating Trix with her own rules. The strict society rules that dictate conduct. Trix wasn’t allowed to take away Emily’s plate, but Emily took away Lorelai’s plate all the time at FND. Because, of differing relations.

I’m with Jay. She was totally doing it to annoy the heck out of Trix. That scene was hilarious! I love Emily and her passive-aggressive ways.
