What has Miguel Sandoval been up to? Repo Chick

Miguel Sandoval has had a long career in show business, with well over 100 credits to his name on IMDB. One of his very first jobs though, for which he was hired while still working as a bartender, was Repo Man. Sandoval played Archie, a young punk with a mohawk. Now, 25 years later, Sandoval has re-teamed with Repo Man’s director, Alex Cox, to film Repo Chick, a sort-of sequel to Repo Man.

Repo Chick is actually more of a continuation than a sequel, as it deals with different characters from Repo Man. Sandoval plays a man named Arizona Gray in this one, and seems to have traded in his mohawk for a cowboy hat. YouTube has a clip from a documentary filmed about the making of Repo Chick. In it, Sandoval tells the funny story of how he snagged his role in Repo Man.

On the dvd commentaries, I always think his are the most interesting.

I’ve never actually seen anything that Alex Cox has directed unless you count the Green Party political broadcast when I was deciding who to vote for. Sandoval seems to have worked with him a few times.

I have always loved Devolos .He is such an honest and comforting character. I always enjoy his scenes in Medium. I would like to see more of him . I read an article on the internet a couple months ago that said Medium would have to shake things up next season, that there was too much focus on The Dubois family last season. Although, I love seeing the family at home and at the breakfast table I agree that too many episodes revolve around Joes job and Ariel. I do love Jake Weber and Sofia V. They are great actors but too many of the same type of episodes can get boring. I love Medium and would like to see it live on for many more seasons. So I am hoping for some exciting and refreshing episodes this season.

Love Sandovel as Manny Devolos!! I would like to see more stories with him too! Gina, I heard the season premiere has a subplot involving Joes Job. The second ep is focused on Ariel. I saw a picture from that show with blood droplets on her face. I agree they are great actors but too many episodes revolve around them and it gets monotinous after a while. I would like to see something fresh too for the next season.

I can never get enough of my Dubois family fix, that’s just my personal preference though. It’s just good to see a normal, realistic family that doesn’t live in a massive house. When Ariel got her first email address, I could relate to that because that was the type of thing that excited me growing up.

I watched shows like the OC as a guilty pleasure when I was at university, but I couldn’t relate to the life the kids had at all.

I do love the supporting cast too, just not as much as I love the Dubois family. I do really want to see how Scanlon is adapting to fatherhood.

Never saw Repo Man. Did ya’ll happen to catch Miguel in The Closer this summer? They repeated the episode he guested in last night. Quite a departure from his Medium character, but it was fun to see him do something else.

I wish I could share everyone else’s excitement at seeing Scanlon as a parent – it’s not that I don’t think that will be fun, it’s just that means we are stuck with DiNovi’s horrible acting skills forever more. I’m all for Scanlon growing as a character, but the actress who plays DiNovi – and I use the term actress loosely – happens to be Mrs GGC – the only reason she has the job. Her skills are just so inferior to the stellar cast. David Cubitt deserves a better acting partner!

I never saw Repo man. I did see Sandovel in a movie on the Disney Channel my kids were watching and he was terrific. I enjoy him as Manny Devolos such a warm character.
I am very excited to see Scanlon as a daddy. I like the him with DiNovi. They are good for each other. I don’t have any problems with her acting. I didn’t like her in season one but I think she has improved 100% .I have always thought her and Scanlon had an interesting relationship . Can’t wait to see them with the baby.

Nice clip. I have not viewed any of Sandovels previous work. I do like the way he plays Devolos, a strong and very likeable character.

I also enjoy the Scanlon/Dinovi storyline. I am interested to see how Lynn’s status as a single mom will affect her as the Deputy Mayor, if it does at all.

In season 1 her character was a little odd, always trying to intimidate Devolos, but she has become nicer since her reationship with Scanlon.

I think all the actors on medium are great, including the actress who plays Dinovi.

Miguel Sandoval is great in REPO MAN. It makes me feel old to hear that some of the fans here have not seen it. Oh, well. New things are always more appealing to younger fans. It also makes me feel a little sad. REPO MAN is such a great indie movie, that should be required viewing.

In fact, there was a course at UCLA’s prestigious film school, that focused on how a film maker can make a narrative linear movie in a non-linear fashion. Not an easy task. The 3 movies that the class focused on were, Akira Kurosawa’s RASHOMON, Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and Alex Cox’s REPO MAN. That is quite a list. REPO MAN is heralded by many, as being one of the most influential indie movies of all time. It is said to influence Quentin Tarantino’s PULP FICTION, amongst many others. There is a site dedicated to the numerous quotes from REPO MAN. All of this is on the internet.

The latest news is that Miguel Sandoval has re-teamed with REPO MAN director Alex Cox on his latest movie, REPO CHICK, which World Premiered at the 2009 Venice Film Festival in Italy. Apparently, Del Zamora, who also starred with Miguel Sandoval in REPO MAN, TORTILLA HEAVEN and REPO CHICK, will appear in the 2nd episode of MEDIUM, this new season on CBS.

Talk about a reunion. It almost seems like it is a REPO MAN party. In any case, if you haven’t seen REPO MAN, get out and rent it. It is not for everybody, but the academics might be on to something here. I concur with them. REPO MAN is great.
