In ‘Kill Me Now‘, Rory has to pick a team sport and, the topic coming up at the Gilmore dinner, Emily latches onto ‘golf‘ as one of the options Rory prattles off. Though that doesn’t sound much like a team sport, Emily is hooked and Rory has no chance of escape. Richard plays golf and Emily is determined he teach her how.

Rory is not much of a natural at golf, as you can see below, which always made me wonder: if she hadn’t tried golf, what would she have picked instead? Is there anything she perhaps would have been naturally good at?
If you could picture Rory playing any sport, what would it be and why?

Not really a sport but I was thinking when I was playing mine earlier how funny it would have been if Lorelai and Rory had a Wii, something would be bound to get broken-lol.
Regarding a serious sport I could imagine Rory playing soccer or maybe tennis but she’d be a total perfectionist!

Horseback riding is out, she fell or is afraid.
Field hockey, no way would Rory hit some with a stick.
Tennis, too hard.
Swimming or diving, can she swim?
10 Pin Bowling it is!!

If you have ever seen the I’m Reed Fish DVD there is no question AB enjoys bowling, but will probably never break 100!! Can see Rory enjoying skiing and rock climbing as recreational outlets, and good at soccer or cross country [as she appeared to be a quick runner] though probably not really enjoying them all that much.

As long as there was a cute outfit! :)
Bowling does have the funny shoes, I think it would be a good fit :)
Or bowling ON the Wii :)

She said, she joined the Lacrosse team in a later episode. When I heard that for the first time, I was like: What? Do you (or ASP) even know what goes on at a girls’ Lacrosse game? Because, Lacrosse is a rough sport, kind of like Field hockey. Chess maybe?
And a Wii, yes that would have been something. Why didn’t Chris bring one when he moved in?

If reading was a sport then she would be captain. That girl loves the books as Loralai would say. I think its in her blood to play soccer i can see her kicking the ball around. I don’t see her as a cheerleading and if she was a member of the Country Club and just sat around and read and take a steam then she would do it. But at the begenning of the show on the pilot where she told Lorelai that she sucks at sports then she would’nt play sports just write about it. If she knew how the game played.

Always enjoyed the comedic interplay between Alexis and Ed as they toured the course and rehashed the days gossip. Thought their subtle chemistry was under-utilized by the writers as the only other great comedic moment they had together was when they “punked” Logan.

The way the character was written, the correct answer is absolutely none. No sports and no intellectual games (chess, bridge, etc.) either. Much like Marilyn Vos Savant, she finds those kinds of things dull. However, non-intellectual games could be kind of interesting. Wouldn’t she and Lorelai make a formidable Pictionary team?

The fact is that she misses the ball in a so beautiful unnatural way, that I wounder if Alexis Bledel have not already practiced this sport yet?
Otherwise, camping and walking are already two sports she already practices with her mother.

the only sports I remember Rori and Lorelai playing is squash in one of the last episodes. They basically sit on the pitch and talk about Luke/Christopher and Logan problems and then Lorelai hits one ball and hits it into her own face…

I can’t imagen her playing any sport, Wii some one would get wacked w/ a controler, bowling the ball would hit some one ect.

Rory came off as such an anti-sports gal, so I can’t think of any she’d be involved with. Even when she attended sporting events, I got the vibe that she’d rather have her eyes gouged out than be a sports fan.

I’d think it would be even less active than bowling – just standing in one spot – which leaves table tennis (ping pong). Now, that’s not much of a sport, but I think it may be in the Olympics, so I’d go with that.
