What was that "Lover Man" song on Medium?

Ever since I’ve been writing for this site, I’ve really noticed the music used in Medium. From the songs and lyrics that inspire the episode titles, to the music that they use during the episode itself, there’s a lot of really good music on this show.

In last week’s episode, “An Everlasting Love,” there was a beautiful, slow song playing during the scene where Mandy finds the engagement ring in the hat box that Jeremy has left for her. Reader Dawn and I both misidentified it as Ella Fitzgerald during the Open Mic, but after a little digging, I found out that the song is actually Billie Holiday singing “Lover Man (Oh Where Can You Be?).” It’s a lovely song that was set against a very creepy scene. Here’s a YouTube video of “Lover Man.”

Of course, we can’t forget the montage of Jeremy and Mandy falling in love to The Turtles‘ 1967 hit, “Happy Together.”

The montage, which was so sweet that it was somehow also terrifying, used the uber-popular psychedelic pop song. Here’s a video of The Turtles performing it in 1967:

True, there’s always good music on this show! The casting was great in the episode too, I didn’t recognise either of the actors playing Jeremy and Mandy but both were excellent.

The episode title for this one is a fairly easy one! I always like the music posts.

You know I really loved this whole episode. I loved the part when they played “So Happy Together” When Allison was dreaming of the couple. It was corny but mostly funny and cute because they used this song. It fit well with the comedy of this episode. Kudos to the music guys, writers and all the guest actors and regulars fot this fantastic episode.

Good find, Kona. It occurred to me later that it could have been Billie Holiday, but I didn’t recognize the song, so I wasn’t sure. It was kinda sweet, but also a little creepy the way his ghost was watching her as she found the ring and this song was playing.

And the montage set to the Turtles was really well-done. And when you think about what made these two so “Happy Together”, that makes it even creepier.
Great music as always. The Medium gang scored another one with this ep.

Medium always uses great music to fit the show just right.

There used to be a show on that all of the episode titles were actually song titles – I can’t remember which series it was……anyone?

Hey Betty, probably not what you are thinking about but Degrassi the Next Generation did that.

Thanks DJ, but that wasn’t the show I was thinking of. Maybe it’s Grey’s Anatomy? Shonda Rhimes uses lots of great music in Grey’s and I really don’t pay attention to song titles, maybe that’s the show I’m thinking of!

Does anyone know the name of the song that played on the medium in the episode where Delsavalos daughter is raped?
