What's Better Than an Emmy Nod? A Baby on the Way, Says Tom Colicchio!

A handful of Emmy nominations are “great,” but they just can’t compare to the feeling that comes with expecting a baby! Just ask Tom Colicchio of Top Chef!

“We’re having a boy,” he told People, adding that the baby is due in early August. “That’s [my] real news!”

Tom and his wife, writer/director Lori Silverbush, they’ve even settled on the name. But their lips are sealed until the little one arrives.

“We’re keeping it under wraps,” he explained. “Our parents don’t know the name yet.”

But of course the excited grandparents have asked!

“This is her seventh [grandchild]!” he said. “In fact, that’s how we broke it to her. We gave her a little onesie with the number seven on the back of it. She opened it up and she’s like, ‘What?!’ “

So does Tom hope the new arrival follows in his award-winning footsteps?

“He could do whatever!” Tom said, adding that both the baby and his 16-year-old son from a previous relationship, “can do whatever they’d like to do as long as they’re happy.”
