What’s Happening on the Disney Channel for August 2009?

Just because it’s summer and everybody else is showing re-runs, doesn’t mean the Disney Channel follows suit. Nope. They continue with new premieres in August of your favorite shows and movies. Here’s a short summary of what you can expect in August on the Disney Channel. (Schedule subject to change.):

New episodes of Hannah Montana:

  • For (Give) a Little Bit (Airs August 9th): Miley accidentally reveals an embarrassing secret about Jackson during a live radio interview, and to make up for it, takes him to a cool party. When her own embarrassing secret is revealed, she blames Jackson and purposely embarrasses him in front of his crush, only to find out Lilly was the one who let it slip. Meanwhile, Rico asks Robby to teach him how to country line dance to impress a girl in a new.
  • B-B-B-Bad to the Chrome (Airs August 23)

New episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place:

  • Wizards & Vampires vs. Zombies (Airs August 8th):Justin convinces Juliet that their prom date will be the most memorable ever. Meanwhile Alex opts to plan a zombie themed anti-prom, but is unprepared for the unexpected real zombies that arrive for the ultimate prom dance off.
  • Retest (Airs August 21st): Jerry and his siblings, Kelbo and Megan, decide to retake the Wizard test that, in their teen years, determined who got to keep their powers. When Alex, Justin and Max see how competitive the contest gets, they realize the same test could eventually tear their family apart as well.

New episodes of JONAS:

  • Three Musketeers (Airs August 9th): Kevin, Joe and Nick audition for “The Three Musketeers” and land the lead roles, but stage fright gets the best of Joe and he drops out of the play. Joe immediately regrets his decision as he becomes increasingly jealous of Stella’s crush on school jock Van Dyke Tosh who has replaced him as the third musketeer. Meanwhile, Macy loses her good luck charm and feels it is the reason behind her losing streak.
  • Frantic Romantic (Airs August 16th): After a chance encounter on the red carpet, the tabloids have labeled Joe and diva actress Fiona Skye as a couple. While Fiona is happy with the boost to her career, Joe enlists Kevin, Nick, Stella and Macy to break-up the fictional relationship
  • Detention (Airs August 23rd): Joe tries to prove to a classmate that he doesn’t get special treatment after she is given detention and he is let off the hook for accidentally setting off the fire alarm. Meanwhile, Macy helps Stella, who is terrible at sports, fulfill her P.E. requirement.

New episodes of The Suite Life on Deck:

  • The Spy Who Shoved Me (Airs August 7th): A microchip with secret information on it goes missing and the twins help a spy recover it.
  • In The Line of Duty (Airs August 21st): As punishment for setting off a stink cloud, Zack is made hall monitor, a role which he takes way too seriously. After sending half of the school to detention, Zack experiences the repercussions of upsetting all of his friends. Meanwhile, Bailey gets a job at London’s boutique, an extension of London’s personal closet

New episodes of Sonny with a Chance:

  • Sonny In The Kitchen With Dinner (Airs August 16th): Tawni has a crush on the new intern and enlists Sonny to teach her how to act “normal” to impress him. After a slew of unfortunate events, Sonny must use her resources to help save their date. Meanwhile, Nico and Grady attempt to get a sandwich named after them.

New Disney Channel Original Movie:

  • Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie (Airs August 28th): The story of “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” begins in New York with the Russos busily packing for their Caribbean vacation. Middle child Alex is planning to stay back with her best friend Harper while her family is away. When Alex uses magic to defy her mother and go to a party with Harper, a disappointed Theresa insists Alex go on the family vacation.
    Upon their arrival at the resort, Theresa excitedly points out all the locations she and Jerry visited when they first met and snaps pictures of the family who, to their chagrin, are dressed in matching tropical outfits.  When a cute wind surfing instructor invites Alex out, Theresa won’t allow her to go.  Frustrated and upset with her mom, Alex wishes her parents never met, prompting an unintended spell to activate.
