Some of you have already started discussing who you would like to see star in “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” with Katie Holmes. I thought it would be fun to have an official post where we talk about our ideal cast for the movie.
Here’s how E! News describes the flick:
The adrenaline-pumping flick is based on a TV movie that aired on ABC back in 1973, which centered on a girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend, only to realize that they are not the only occupants of the abode.
Okay, so who should play the father and the girlfriend? There is no word whether or not Katie will have a love interest in the film, but if she did, who would you want it to be?
In the description from the 1973 TV Movie, it describes the other “occupants” as demon-like creatures. Sounds interesting!

Katie is playing the girl???? That’s surprising–she’s 30! I thought she’d be playing the father’s girlfriend. Are they expecting us to buy Katie as a teen? If so, this project will fail. Or have they written the story to be about a 30-something woman who moves in with her elderly father?
So, does she have a minor role in this film as well?
wait…Katie is playing the daughter? I thought she was in the role of the girlfriend. Does she only have a supporting part in this film? Hey….heres my vote: ME!!! I want me in the role of the dad’s girlfriend!!! Afterall, I am an actress as well…..maybe not a famous one, but I have done alot of work and have had training……cast me!!!!!
Cool,I hope Katie will take love interest this movie and want see her new horror movie
I’m thinking…how old is the girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend in this movie? Perhaps Katie is playing the father’s girlfriend and not the daughter.
How about Colin Farrell, Ashton Kutcher or Zachary Quinto
I went to youtube and found the original Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, but the storyline is totally different from the one Katie is in, or at least according to the media. The tv one centres on a married couple, with the wife inheriting a spooky house, but there is no daughter. So I think maybe Katie will play the girlfriend, or else if she plays the daughter , it means the father will have to be older, what then , does he have a young girlfriend, if she is a girlfriend, she’s not going to be old, anyway I ‘m still sticking to Aaron Eckhart, there is something I like about him, yes I can see Colin Farrell too, and Simon Baker, not so much Ashton he comes across as a bit young.
Off topic, but did anyone see the 2pics of Katie at the Model as Muse in LA, it was on style. com, Katie is wearing one of her designs again and is pictured with Jeanne Yang, among others. Hope I’m not telling you guys things you already know and have seen.
annie: i saw the pics…..ahhh…..everyone in those photos looked below average……horrible outfits, bad hair and makeup and most needed to lose a few lbs.
Zigzag, that was my thought too. KH is getting too old to be someone’s daughter unless they are elderly parents.
Also, does she really have a major part in this film? They said she was starring in the last one and she had a minor role.
You know guys, she might be playing the girlfriend. I just assumed that she would have the more major role, but maybe it is just a supporting role. I will definitely have to do more research!
Annie – I didn’t even know she attended! Thanks for pointing that out. I can’t post the pictures though.
[...] the post “Who Do You Want to See in ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’?” several of you pointed out that it seems weird for Katie Holmes to play the daughter. You said [...]
I have a feeling she’s playing the smaller girlfriend role, Julie. At 30, she’s too old for the daughter role. A good meaty role, whether it’s supporting or not, could be a boon to Katie’s career, but I would have preferred that she headline in her next role. Just my opinion…..
When they do remakes a lot of times they change parts of it. What plot we do know of has already changed
Of course they do, kate! That’s why they call it a remake!! LOL!
So? What’s the new plot? Did I miss something? It seems like we’re just speculating. IF they have a man, his girlfriend and the man’s daughter, it stands to reason that Katie wouldn’t play the daughter at her age. That was my comment. I’m just offering my opinion like everyone else! Any reason I shouldn’t do that?
Anyway….as I said, I was hoping for an above the title role for Katie this time out. The Extra Man looks to be an interesting ensemble which is good, but I was hoping she’d move on to star in her next project. Maybe they’ll rework the entire story to do that. Who knows.
I don’t know what happen to part of my post earlier but it disappeared so don’t pay attention to the man behind the curtain.
