Why aren't the Harry Potter books on the Kindle?

Many of us (including me) got some extra Christmas gift money this holiday season, and since I’ve been coveting a Kindle for a while, naturally I went over to the Kindle Store to see what kind of books were available first – especially Harry Potter (naturally).

Surprisingly enough, there are no Harry Potter books on the Kindle. Digging into this a little bit, I found that JK Rowling has not approved the books for the Kindle format, simply because she prefers the more traditional book form to the electronic format of the Kindle. Fair enough, but reading is reading, right? I don’t see the big deal, personally.

There ARE ways (illegal) to get around this; you don’t have to purchase the books to get them on your Kindle. Just search any bittorrent site, download the books, and transfer them to your Kindle via a USB. I’m not going to direct link to any sites that offer this because again, it’s illegal, but a simple search engine query should get you where you need to go.

What do you think of Harry Potter not being on the Kindle? Good choice? Bad choice? Don’t care and want to keep eating all that lovely Christmas candy? :>) Let’s hear what you have to say.
