Why Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fascinate us so much

I’ve had several requests to start a new discussion thread, and since we’re all waiting for photos of Knox and Vivienne, I thought now was as good a time as any!

One of the most popular discussion requests I get lately is to have us all talk about why the world is so fascinated with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Obviously, not everyone loves them – that much is obvious by reading some of the nasty comments elsewhere on the Internet. People who dislike Brad and Angelina really do so with vitriol. But on the flip side, many people who admire them are just as passionate in their praise.

The thing is, it’s not just some obvious group that follows the Jolie-Pitt family. There are fans who are teens, in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50, 60s and up. Their fans are homemakers, stay at home mothers, medical professionals, business professionals, fellow actors, and more. And their fans span the globe. It’s not just American fans, or Japanese fans, or French fans. When I get comments sent to my inbox or when I have to go into the moderation queue to push comments through (hi Ligaya, hi Victoria!), I’m able to see where those comments are coming from (generally speaking, of course). It’s amazing to me to see how many different countries my readers come from. We have readers from every continent except Antarctica and I can forgive them for that since people down there are usually pretty busy doing scientific work.

So what is it that makes two celebrities so fascinating to so many different types of people from different cultures and different walks of life? We’re all different but we all have this interest in Brad and Angelina in common.

Tell me what it is that attracts you to this couple (or one of them if you have a preference for one over the other), and maybe guess as to why they have a global appeal. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

(I’ll keep my own thoughts in the comments too to keep this entry from getting too long.)

I have been a fan of Brad since I saw “A River” after ” LOTF” and “Interview” I was hooked. He is sooo hot…I didn’t care for “Babel” didn’t like the story line.”Fight Club’ is another of my favs cuz Tyler’s so crazy.”12 Monkeys” and the “Mexican” were great movies too. I like it when Brad plays crazy wacked out caracters. He seems like he’s a guy with a sence of humor. Angie…I was never a big fan “Tomb Raider” was ok, and she is one of the hottest women on the planet.I think we’re so interested in them cuz we all want to BE them. They are doing great things w/ their money, helping people who need help.If I was rich I hope I’d be as generous as they are. They love their children and seem to be good parents. Let’s hope they can continue to do the humanitarian work, raise their kids to be happy individuals, and maybe have a little peace and quiet now that the twins have been born.GO BRAD AND ANGELINA>>>WE LOVE YOU BOTH!!!

I was never a fan of any celeb for a very long time. But something about this trianle Jen-Brad-Angie was ridiculously facinating. I had no idea why I was suddenly so interested. For a while there was this whole team Aniston and team Jolie going on, and I couldn’t choose side. Then I realised, I don’t need to. That’s actually what Angelina is all about. She lets us know her. She doesn’t fake, and she gives her whole self. Look at her interviews. She’s so present it’s captivating. Her stardom comes from inside, from the true strenght as a woman and as a person. From that honesty. She is not afraid to be who she is, and she doesn’t care if people like her or not. The whole take me as I am or leave me kind of attitude. So there’s really no need to take sides, because everyone is a person, everyone is lovely and worthy, and she is messenger of that message herself. Okay this is starting to sound really cheesy, but you get it, right? She’s like this big sign that says “embrace your womanhood, love yourself, be who you are, be creative, honest and passionate and good things will come to you”. You know, she’s someone I can look up to. She was punk kid and kind of lost, but she found herself. You know? She is a prayer for the wild at heart kept in cages. She is hope. And she is an example that a person can change and find her purpose. Plus, of course, she is skinny, stunning and magnificently talented.

Finland, that was lovely. Welcome! It’s so neat that people from so many countries come to Pittwatch. And it’s great to hear from all the lurkers, too!

Ligaya> right to the point. I don’t remember her exact words either, but I realized when I listened to her, that it is sooo true. And I learned this on my own skin. Never ever regret any experience you have. And I mean here the bad ones, because the happy ones nobody regrets, right? Every experience teaches you something. First of all, smth about yourself and second of all, how to cope with different situations in life. I, for instance, from my own experience, learned how to better recognize and differentiate quality people from the false ones. So Angie is absolutely right. No regrets!

Fan from Vietnam> Thanks for your nice words:) I am 25 (am I as youns as you imagined? :p), passionate indeed about the things I love and I am interested in and for a week I was very deep…deep into the mountins :p I was on vacation and stayed at a nice big hut into the mountins. There was nothing arround but huge trees (christmas trees), a splendid little river and a lot of vegetation. It was heavenly!

She flies her own plane, rides motorcycles, travels the globe, gives voice to millions of displaced war refugees through her book and interviews, earns her own living doing what she loves, and displays tremendous beauty inside and out. I’m sure anyone can find something quite fascinating in there.

Analise, that sounds like a great movie right there! Maybe Angelina should play a fictionalized version of herself! ;-)

Its really amazing to know about two unique individuals ( Angelina and BRAD meet together for one common goal- to share one’s LOVE- for themselves, for their family, for their community and to the whole world.
This couple is a representation of a new evolved family. They may not be married because its their option not to.. but they are coping to be a good parents for their siblings.. in which not all people are like that especially with the profession that they have..
Still they are just too realistic and happy about life….
