I’ve had several requests to start a new discussion thread, and since we’re all waiting for photos of Knox and Vivienne, I thought now was as good a time as any!
One of the most popular discussion requests I get lately is to have us all talk about why the world is so fascinated with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Obviously, not everyone loves them – that much is obvious by reading some of the nasty comments elsewhere on the Internet. People who dislike Brad and Angelina really do so with vitriol. But on the flip side, many people who admire them are just as passionate in their praise.
The thing is, it’s not just some obvious group that follows the Jolie-Pitt family. There are fans who are teens, in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50, 60s and up. Their fans are homemakers, stay at home mothers, medical professionals, business professionals, fellow actors, and more. And their fans span the globe. It’s not just American fans, or Japanese fans, or French fans. When I get comments sent to my inbox or when I have to go into the moderation queue to push comments through (hi Ligaya, hi Victoria!), I’m able to see where those comments are coming from (generally speaking, of course). It’s amazing to me to see how many different countries my readers come from. We have readers from every continent except Antarctica and I can forgive them for that since people down there are usually pretty busy doing scientific work.
So what is it that makes two celebrities so fascinating to so many different types of people from different cultures and different walks of life? We’re all different but we all have this interest in Brad and Angelina in common.
Tell me what it is that attracts you to this couple (or one of them if you have a preference for one over the other), and maybe guess as to why they have a global appeal. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

There are probably too many things that make me love and admire this family! I first was interested in Angelina when she took the part of Tomb Raider because i have a thing for feisty and strong, individualistic women and she really came across like that so i did my research and watched some of her other films and found she really touches my heart easily. Gia is probably one of my favourite films ever and i loved Girl, Interrupted. Also, to me, Angelina is the most beautiful woman on this planet on the outside so to see her grow as a mother and glow with love, happiness and generosity makes her so much more amazing and beautiful. Alot of beautiful women dn’t have the whole package like Ange. I always loved Brad as an actor since i saw Interview with the Vampire and it is one of my favourite movies. I was never interested in his private life because i really didn’t like Friends and i knew he was with Jennifer and they were perceived as “the golden couple” and stuff i just didn’t find it interesting. I watched Mr and Mrs Smith and loved it! I guess pretty much everyone would have said to themselves “wouldn’t they be awesome together”. There’s not a better match when it comes to Mr Pitt and Miss Jolie. I wondered what their babies would look like before they had babies! I never really knew what kind of man Brad was until he was with Ange. He’s so loving, generous and helpful and it occured to me i never realised this before he go with Angelina. They bring out the best in each other and can fulfill all their dreams together. They seem to have alot in common. It’s so obvious they make each other so blissfully happy. The thing that i love the most about Brad and Angelina is despite their fame, looks, money and popularity we are so easily able to relate to them. They are the most down-to-earth, laid-back celebrities. The most beautiful. The most popular yet the most relatable. Angelina had alot of issues and hard times and things going on in her past and to see her come through them is truly an inspiration. The entertainment industry is a hard business to make it in but she always is so open and honest about everything and takes alot of stick for it but she stands through it and look where she is now. I admire her strength and intelligence. We can all relate to wanting to help the poor and the needy and no one has helped more than Angelina and Brad. What they do really does make a difference. I’m in awe with this couple and they never cease to amaze me! I’m sure Brad and Angelina will be remembered until the end of their days and beyond in my heart and the thousands of other hearts they have touched on their amazing journey. Sorry it’s so long, folks. I don’t get chance to share my opinions on Brad and Angelina with anyone else because they don’t understand so it’s really lovely to get this out. I agree with you all and thank you for sharing your opinions. It’s so nice to know there are so many people who cherish them as much as i.
I was a Brad fan since Se7en, but have liked Angie since TR. When all the rumours started with him and Angie I think I secretly wondered what it would be like. He’s subsequent hook up with Angie, the instant family had me hopeful. Finding out Shiloh was a possibility made me very happy and had me hooked 100%.
Why? Well it seemed that he had chosen a woman who didn’t believe in double talk, when she said A, she meant A and not V. A woman who was prepared at least, to meet him half way.
Their subsequent humanitarian work together has garnered even more love and …yes respect for them.
I think they found their “ying and yang” in each other. Two talented people with big big hearts.
Well, the first movies that I saw of them were Brad’s Kalifornia and Angie’s Gia. Both roles were kind of scary and complicated to me (a teenager in the other side of world). Both movies made me feel horrible and kept my mind busy for days. after a while I started to like and admire them for playing those complex roles. I watched a few movies of them for years after that but couldn’t keep up with their lives and their careers (because it was impossible in my home country). when I moved to North America and followed them on TV was disappointed to find out Jen is Brad’s wife. I told my husband “I wonder what he saw in this girl”. Then it was the talk about Mr & Mrs Smith. It was my dream. My favorite actors were going to play in one movie. I wanted Brad to fall in love with Angelina because she is extraordinary. You can imagine how happy I was when they got togethar. They are talented and beautiful. They are good people, kind and generous. I think they are facinating because they stand strong for their opinion and live their lives the way they want it to be not others. I love them and wish the Jolie-Pitt family all the happiness in the world.

o and theyr an inspirational, ideal family. brad and ange suit one another and keeping up with their news articles isnt an addiction, its pure fun.
1)theyr hot people physically, its interesting to see what their biological kids look like and ange’s fashion style. 2)their humanitarian work. 3)their multiracial family which is fascinating. 4)love their movies!!

As a sixteen year old right now. I didn’t really pay attention to celebrities when Brad and Angelina started their careers. I was like what 10?
So basically I learned of them through peoples magazine as I was too young to watch most of their films. I take piano lessons and in the waiting room there would always be a copy of peoples. So when I got bored I would read the magazine.
So I first heard of Angelina when I saw Tomb Raider. And then adoption of Maddox was highly surprising to me. Because that was the first time I heard of celebrities adopting. And because I live in a city with a high ratio of cambodians I was interested. So thats what drew me in.
Brad Pitt I heard about when my friends mom was gushing over how hot he was and how she wished she was married to him but he already had Jennifer Aniston.
I kind of just left it there. Didn’t really care until Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
That was when I explored Angelina Jolie. Watched her old movies. Read about her kissing her brother. Admitting she was bi. Make out sessions with BBT on the red carpet and other trashy behavior in her past. I also read about how when she went to cambodia and changed. I read her travel journal which is really touching. And how she realize that her life was lucky.
And her ability to change. That’s what I admire most.
There are plenty of humanitarian celebrities that are pretty, great actor/actress, and fantastic parents (such as Reese Witherspoon) but Angelina is different in that she has flaws. Her past, her two failed marriages, cutting problems but she realize that she was far better off than other people in the world and turned herself around. This is living proof that one controls their own destiny. She went from wild hollywood child (like lindsey Lohan, and britney spears) to beautiful and caring humanitarian that is also a top notch actress and wonderful mom.
Angelina is my idol and I look up to her. I try to be honest and live life to the fullest. That’s why I am fascinated by Angelina Jolie.
Brad for me is still a regular celebrity with a little more credit.
I must confess, Brad and Angie were not my first choice before M/M Smith. I was a fan of Keeanu Reeves, Dougray Scott, Drew Barrymore (I love Everafter) and I watched all the James Bond and Indiana Jones movies. No offense, I have also seen all of the “Friends” episodes until the last taping including the episode where Brad was the guest star. I hated him in “Thelma & Louise,” but I really started liking him in “Meet Joe Black.” I saw him in an earlier episode of Oprah when she asked him about JA and he was playing coy with the subject. He was not jumping on the couch but he was seated on the floor. I think they were secretly engaged then. This was the time when I used to read some of the tabs that in the making of MMS there is a rumor that B & A seem to be more than friends. They showed pictures of them on the set which were basically part of the film. Then I read they were (don’t know if true since these were tabs) still spending time talking to each other for hours after the cameras stopped rolling. Then, it was mentioned that JA visited the set and was upset that B & A were both gone. (Remember, these were tab writings) but I was fascinated with the two superstars who are going to be in a movie. I have seen Angie only from the Tomb Raider movies and I was not too crazy with her tattoos and the clips with Billy Bob at the award nights. I was too shallow. When I saw MMS for the first time, it was magic. Angie looked so different than Lara Croft. Brad was very comical and their chemistry was so mesmerizing that I said to myself, I wish that they become a real couple. Then I read about her U.N. work, saw Brad’s charity efforts from Dianne Sawyer’s interview. I was detecting a love triangle when Dianne Sawyer kept on drilling Brad with personal questions, about wild Angie and the good girl wife JA then and Brad kept on avoiding the subject not answering directly and being very objective “She’s a good egg and a great actress.” I was fascinated with them slowly. Then I saw that Angie adopted a Cambodian orphan. My son is also adopted and of Cambodian descent. And the rest is history.
Okay, I like Ange because she’s good looking. Brad’s lucky dude!
Watching Angelina in the earlier days was almost like watching Madonna, you never knew what you would get from her! She always kept my interest for that reason and because she dived into whatever role she played. Then the “thing” with Brad happened and WHOOSH, it was like seeing a whole new person develop, not only her, him too. They are a great couple and I can not wait to see how their kids turn out! They are a great inspiration in so many ways!!

I have always loved watching Hollywood movies and I do have my preferences on some actors and actresses over the others because of their talents. However, I was not a fan of anyone of them (in the sense that I was never interested in how they led their life and what their accomplements were etc.), even during my teenager years or in my 20′s. So I am quite surprised to find myself being a fan (for the first time in my life) of Angeline and Brad when I am in my mid 30′s, amid a busy career and a family with a young child.
Like Sherry I was attracted to Angelina before I was to Brad. Apart from the obvious reasons like she is a talented actress, a genuine humanitarian and a great mother, the main reason that drew me to her was the fact that she had amazingly transformed herself from a really “bad girl” in Hollywood into such a dedicated mother and a brave and generous humanitarian without help of any publicist. Being transformed from someone with a reputation of “blood, knife and cocaine” into a Saint like character who is loved and admired by millions of people across the globe is not something everyone can do. And I truly admire her for that!
I find Angie’s life and what she has accomplished truly inspirational. There are many things she has done that I wish I could do but I know I can’t. Doing charity is part of my family culture and I always try to help those who are in need whenever I can. But I know I would never be able to make that trip to Iraq when I was 3-4 months pregnant even if I had all the means and the resources to do it! And I guess that makes Angie so special and unique. Her ability to make bold moves and her willingness to go to extremes in her life really strike me with incredible fascination!
I have always been deeply impressed by Angie’s interviews. She always has something great to say and something for me to learn from. Some of her quotes help me in my daily life such as “never judge people” and “I never regret…I am not a believer in regrets and it is a bad habbit to get into”.
My attraction to Brad only came later when he paired up with Angie but it has grown stronger with time. I love him mostly because of his “loving husband/partner and caring father” image and secondly of his humanitarian work. Looking at him holding Pax and Z in both of his arms on their way to school while Angie was filming “Wanted”, or him holding Shi and playing with her in the sun by a tent made out of cotton box, or him playing with Pax in their “up-side-down” way, really made my heart melt. Not many men can do that, especially in my own country where taking care of children is considered women’s job!
When two great people come together they create double power and double impact. This is even more so with Brad and Angie – they have tripled their power by being together. They have created the definition of “the most influencial couple”, and “the most beautiful family on the planet”.
I could go on for pages about why I am fascinated by this couple, but I think I have already taken too much space! I have said this a few times before, but I am gona say it again – I’m very glad I find this site. After a long day at work and after my son is sound asleep I can check in here to get an update of what’s going on with the JPs, read the fans comments.. and it sort of completes my day. My husband knows I am a fan of this couple and the nice thing about him is that even though he is not their fan he patiently listens when I talk about them and enjoys watching their movies with me.
I thought Angelina (I’m old enough to be her mother) was just this precious little rebel saying kiss my A** daddy, and Hollywood. My son is in show business and has had a very supportive family, and I felt compassion that she was not just totally loved, appreciated and adored by her dad. What a stupid father. He throws away a diamond and wonders why she won’t speak to him! I saw Gia, and I was Hooked!! Then she fell in LOVE with Maddox. She didn’t need Brad after that. I’m sure she did not mean to steal him away at all, he was just bolled over by her perfection and sass. I have to admit, I was amused that he acted on being the “BAD CHEATING MAN”, let the chips fall where they would, break Jen’s heart and go for the GREATEST LOVE of his life!! That was hard for him, I’m sure, because he is such an angel. I am so proud of them both.
I sometimes find myself wondering that very question, why do I find Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt so interesting? For myself it is firstly that I believe they are both extremely talented and gifted artists and have always enjoyed watching most of their movies. It is still this talent that interests me , however also I am in complete awe of how normal they have remained and how kind and generous they both are. They both display “naturally” all the human virtues that are needed in this world, especially generosity. I believe that the people who criticise them do this from a place of guilt because they feel they will never be half the person that they both are. May God Bless them and their lovely family.

I already wrote some of the reasons I liked Angelina in the previous post, but I’ll just add this to all of these other posts, many of which I totally agree with. (I think it’s kind of funny)
The first time I heard about Angelina Jolie was from this really hot but jerky guy I dated briefly, and he mentioned Angelina Jolie a few times, reverently. She was not yet huge back then – it was shortly after Shark Tales. I googled her to see who this new actress was and definitely could see she was a bombshell, very unique in her beauty. But she looked kind of trashy and dumb in the photos I saw so I left it at that. I NEVER used to follow Hollywood actors, I used to find them pretty boring and predictable.
Then one day I’m reading the Washington Post online and I see a small caption that says, simply, “Angelina Jolie donates 5 Million dollars to help the crisis in Sudan.” And I was like 5 Million dollars??? That’s no joke ! Then I realized this woman was serious in her engagement with making the world better and I started to take note. I told my best friend and she too was like, WOW ! Then the whole affair thing started with Brand and I got completely obsessed. Completely.
She is the one Hollywood star who I truly find cool and identify with.
I found Jennifer Aniston insipid and unoriginal and I applauded Brad for choosing Angie. I thought Brad was a stereotypical Hollywood actor and not my type (I too like dark haired men). Then when I saw how he started to carry himself since he’s been with Angelina my respect for him grew and now I think he’s totally great.

I would just like to say that it is postively AMAZING to me that anyone would hate these people who gave 8 million dollars to various charities this year. They are the only people who donated their baby photo money to charity. Did J. Lo do that? How about Christina Aguilera, Salma Hayek, etc. etc. NOT ONE OTHER PERSON DID THAT. I believe that Angelina has single-handedly transformed Hollywood such that celebs now feel like they have to do something or get involved in something or they look bad. None of these people did anything special before Angelina. Now suddenly they are all running to be on these committees and going overseas to visit all these areas, etc. Also, the vast majority of these other celebs – all they do is go to charity events where they pay by the head and that is their big donation. I cannot think of one other celebrity who puts their money where their mouth is. And for someone to think they do it for attention, or whatever, and dis them, is unbelievable. They, or at least she, will go down in history before she is finished- of single handedly forcing rich celebs to get involved.
Oh, I’m so mad! I wrote this long comment and my cursor went to askmen.com on the advertisment table and I accidently hit the mouse by accident!!! *sigh*
Anyway, I wrote that I use not to keep up with Brad and Angelina. I didn’t like Angelina since she married Billy Bob Thornton. THEN after she adopted Maddox and Billy Bob Thornton wasn’t so thrilled about it, they both separated and I started keeping up with her life. I guess I felt bad for her because I think BBT is a racist since she adopted a boy from Cambodia.
Then Angelina started hooking up with all these other actors and I thought, “No guy is going to be good enough for her and her son!”
But then she and Brad started working on Mr. & Mrs. Smith and I said they would be perfect for each other. Because Brad wanted kids and Jennifer Aniston did say she wanted kids when FRIENDS ended but she kept working and I think that disappointed Brad.
But of course, Brad and Jennifer Aniston were still married but I was praying that they would divorce so he and Angelina can get together!! And when Brad and Jennifer Aniston announced their separation, I was so excited!!
Then pictures surface with Brad and Angelina off the coast of Africa with Brad playing with Maddox and I was even more excited!
I’ve been keeping up with these two ever since!!! I love them! They’re hearts are so big and people that know them only say the best things about them!!! And they love their kids so much by taking turns working so the whole family can be together!! They are just wonderful people!!!
They call to the best in all of us. I think I was an Angelina fan first. I like how she was different, bold and did her thing. Very much a strong woman. She really sparked my interest when she adopted Maddox. I didn’t expect that from her and from then on she had me in her corner. From her UN activities to her traveling and speaking to people eye to eye and giving them that respect, I came to have major respect for her in turn.
As for Brad, yes, he has always been good looking but I think I seriously started to take notice when he indeed got with Angelina, but what I love about him has more to do with him being a father. I love how much he himself loves being a dad. I really respect him taking on, much like Angelina, children who are not of his own blood but are every bit as much his. That is so honorable. Both Angelina and Brad showing this love and dedication to the children and of course themselves, made me that much more enamored with both and I was seriously happy when Shi was announced and came along.
And another thing I love about them is that they don’t throw their love in your face. It’s not forced, it’s not conventional or expected, it’s Brad and Angelina and that makes their love for one another more real. I love Big bad Angelina as she is perceived showing her inner Angie when she has interviews because it’s not what many expect and that is in part due to Brad and I love how she has Brad to lean on and speaks on what a great father he is and how much he just loves her period. I love Brad speaking on his children and what a wonderful mother Angie is. Is this not what we all wish for sometimes ourselves?
I love the home in Louisiana, I love the trips around the world. I love the significance of birth places to further tie siblings together, I love them never sitting back on their celebrity and only coming out for photo ops, but really believing in their social and humanitarian causes at every chance they get. Honestly there is so much to like because they are so interesting and they seem to have found what they’ve both been looking for their lives.
I like how at the end of the day Brad makes it so that Angelina can be girly, he can lead for instance by taking her hand and allowing her just to be a girl and he a boy if that makes sense. I like that.

I seldom post comments in the web, mainly because English is not my first language and it is a little bit troublesome to write on it. But I really like this topic and can not stop thinking why I like this hot couple so much.
The obvious reason is, of course, the are so hot. Especially brad, he is just the men candy. I collect all his movies. He is those men who become even hotter when they are getting aged.
Then, I love them because they make no regret of being exactly the persons they are. They are truthful about their past, about their life and their dream. For most of celebs, they try to build up those prefect image. I respect their guts to admit that even as celebs they have flaws but they are responsible for their own life and their love ones.
Moreover, in these years, celebs have the trend to get into some good-wills, but no one can be so hands on like them. They really care!
It is sweet to watch them fall in love and build up such a strong and big family. I am long for their future work!!
