Danny Gokey was back home in Milwaukee where he talked to Fox News about his charity, Sophia’s Heart Foundation, which has received some sizable donations since he appeared on American Idol. He also spoke of his work with Habitat for Humanity and I’m so happy to see that Danny is working to help those in need.
Danny also revealed that he will be meeting with the 19 Records president and Sony Nashville which is some pretty exciting news. What would you think about a country album for Danny? While I’m not completely sure if it’s the right fit, I will agree that it is better than rock or pop for his voice and would be more mainstream than gospel. I think that with the right writers and promotion, he could do quite well since so many country songs are straight from the heart and Danny definitely has some stories to tell.
I really hope he does not get signed.

I was disgusted when he sang dream on.
Its an amazing song and he completely trashed it.
His other performances were soo boring.
This reminds me of the movie ” The Cutting Edge ” where DB Sweeney plays a first class hockey player who sustains an eye injury that puts him out of his bid for the Olympics, and there is this woman figure skater ( Moira Kelly ), a prima donna that no one will work with, and she needs a partner for her bid for the Olympics. It is obvious to the viewer that only a real man, who has real self esteem and can tame this shrew. will do.
An exceptional trainer of real intelligence and talent, and who is, himself, a seasoned soul, puts them together….and magic results !
At first the hockey player is way out of his element on the ice doing figure 8′s, ( Just like Danny, in the idolatry interview says: ” give me a moment “.)
but given just a little time ( due to his innate raw talent ) he becomes a gold medal winner figure skater. There are hack trainers along the way, during that movie, who don’t understand and don’t know how to work with this duo. Ends up being their loss for sure~
Same thing going on here. Danny is just a natural born talented person of great intelligence and soul development, who is capable of greatness in any field he chooses to be in, especially as a singer in ANY genre that he decides to do..Come to think of it, he has that animal magnetism that DB Sweeney had in that movie, before he continued on with a toxic lifestyle that bloated and aged his body and face. Also Sweeney and Kelly trained and rehearsed for that film and did their own skating in it, for the most part. I think that that is the kind of performer that Danny is, and could also do his own skating if he had to do that movie.
From what I see Danny has that balanced left and right brain that spells genius in anything he puts his mind to.
I can also see from some pictures on the net that he is actually an exceptionally gifted man in dance and art too.
You can see that the music vibrates though him and his body is capable and free to express it.. He is comfortable in his own skin, and since he has lost a few pounds the “line’ is right.
I do hope that he doesn’t end up in the hands of mediocre producers. They would only waste his time and ours.
In the hands of someone that is a cut above, he will end up where he should be: Our Gold Medal Entertainer ~ who could be around for years after the others fade away. Yes I agree, David Foster is probably the man for the job.
We would all be benefited by his running as a tortoise rather than a hare.
I’ve been hearing so many different stories. I had recently heard that Danny wants to sing the blues — perfectly fitted to his husky voice. I hope he gets signed SOON — he is a great talent !
danny boy is d best listening to him singing carrie underwood and rascal flats songs made me like country music more doing a country album will take him into a whole new level ……..go go gokey
Yes, Gokey also made me “cry” too but only when I was listening to Dream On. I was crying so much because I could not stop laughing at his foolish attempt to sing the high notes!
Gokey does not fit into the country genre at all, 19 would be way too stupid to sign him up for this!
Country & Ballads would be a Great fit for Danny!
He does a wonderful job with Rascal Flatt & Carrie Underwood type songs.
I think he will have a following in whatever music he does, but 19 & Sony
producers are on the right tract for him in where his vocal strengths & talent lie.

Good on ya, Danny, on all fronts! You are AMAZING! I’d buy any kind of album he makes, cuz I love that sexy voice and his heartfelt style. He’s made me cry plenty listening to his songs.
