Will Zac Efron Be In 'Hairspray 2'?

A sequel to the hit remake of 2007’s Hairspray has been rumored since the first movie hit theaters, and though most of the cast have kept mum about any plans they may know about, Nikki Blonski, who plays Tracy Turnblad, has recently said that a Hairspray 2 is definitely in the works!

Nikki revealed that Zac Efron, who played dreamboat Link Larkin, will be back, as will director Adam Shankman and writer John Waters. About Zac’s return, Nikki says:

“Where would Tracy be without Link? He is the only Link in my heart,” Blonsky says.

Although she doesn’t know where the couple will be in their relationship, she is pulling for no romantic drama. “I can only imagine they would still be together. Tracy and Link are the ‘Hairspray’ couple,” she adds.

There’s nothing listed in Zac’s imdb profile about it yet, though maybe that’s the “untitled” project at the top?

Anyway, the sequel, tentatively titled “Hairspray 2: White Lipstick,” will supposedly have a July 2010 release.
