The second is a replacement for the hipster summer haven McCarren Park Pool (which is now being turned back into a pool). The Williamsburg Waterfront will take over as one of the premier places to see free and ticketed outdoor shows in the summer. The New York Times reports:
Stephanie Thayer, executive director of the Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn, a nonprofit group that coordinated last year’s concerts, said that a strip along the East River between North Eighth and North Ninth Streets that was designated a New York State park a few years ago will have concerts this summer, with room for 6,000 fans.
Thayer adds that she will work with promoters who did shows at McCarren Park Pool, but she would like to have classical and opera there as well. Can’t wait to see the lineup!
