Wipeout, the surprise hit of the summer, ABC’s new reality show, has been picked up for a second season.
Wipeout has dominated Tuesday’s 8 p.m. ET/PT time slot in total views and across each key adult demographic since airing this summer. In its six telecasts so far, Wipeout has consistently ranked as the No. 2 show of the week in both total viewers and adults age 18-49. Since its debut, Wipeout stands as the summer’s No. 1 show with men ages 18-49 and men ages 25-54, and is the No. 2 show in total viewers and adults 18-49, behind only NBC’s hugely popular America’s Got Talent and Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen.
Wipeout also is the Nov. 1 new series of the summer in viewers and young adults and represents TV’s highest-rated freshman summer series in three years in adults ages 18-49 since the first season of Dancing with the Stars in Summer 2005.
On Wipeout each week, 24 new contestants of all ages, shapes and sizes go head to head through four rounds of grueling and physically demanding but wildly hilarious obstacle courses to win the title of "Wipeout Champion" and the grand prize of $50,000. The contestants and the courses change every week, with over-the-top obstacles including the crowd favorite, the Big Balls. In the end, only one contestant will win, while everyone else will Wipeout!
Wipeout is hosted by John Henson (E! Entertainment’s "Talk Soup") and John Anderson (ESPN’s SportsCenter). Jill Wagner is co-host.
