Granted, I don’t happen to have $10,000 lying around at the moment, but I would be hard-pressed to think of anyone I would shell out that kind of cash to break bread with. However, The Arizona Republic says that someone did exactly that at a recent Junior League charity auction.
An unknown bidder paid the hefty sum to attend dinner with psychic medium Allison DuBois and her husband, Joe. As the amount of money is so large, DuBois joked that she’d throw in her three kids as well, “We’ll see how that works out. They’re pretty well-behaved.”
DuBois was the keynote speaker at the event, and is involved with them because of the work they do to protect children. She said during her keynote speech,
“By educating these kids, you’re actually saving lives,” she said. “And I don’t know if you quite realize that you’re doing that, but there will be somebody else who could have been a victim who won’t be a victim because of what you are doing. I think that is a pretty big deal.”
It seems as though the money is going to a good cause, but it’s really a large amount to pay for someone’s time. I wonder what the bidder is looking for? Do you think he wants to see if DuBois can tell him about a departed loved one? Or perhaps he or she is just a poor, misguided Medium fan who’s going to be very confused when they get to the restaurant and Patricia Arquette doesn’t show up.

The last part of your post made me giggle and smile.
If I had that kind of money, I would use it to deal with my bad case of wanderlust!
I’m not really a fan of fancy restaurants.
That’s just plain stupid.
