Zac Efron is apparently eyeing the lead role in a film version of the Broadway musical “Rock of Ages.”
Even though he cut ties with the Footloose remake because he didn’t want to be pigeonholed into singing and dancing roles, he apparently likes the production so much he’s willing to risk it anyway.
Rumor has it he’s competing with Jake Gyllenhaal for the lead role.
Rock of Ages is set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip. A small town girl meets a big city rocker in LA’s most famous rock club, and they fell in love to the songs of the 80s from Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pet Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia and Whitesnake. Should be interesting!
