No sooner did Zac Efron drop out from the remake of Footloose, claiming he doesn’t want to be typecast with the singing and dancing roles, he’s rumored to be interested in Rock of Ages, and now a Saturday Night Fever remake.

The project is being spearheaded by American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who has his own television production and music label. Zac, of course, would take on the lead part of Tony Manero which was originally played by his Hairspray co-star John Travolta in the 70′s.
The soundtrack, originally worked by the BeeGees, would be reworked by Timbaland.
In Saturday Night Fever, lead character Manero, a 19-year-old Italian-American, led a mundane existence working in a small hardware store by day but ruled the dance floor at a Brooklyn dance club at night.
