Zac Efron recently talked to EW.com about why he’s pulled out of the remake of the popular 80’s movie, Footloose.
While at ShoWest in Las Vegas to receive the award for Breakthrough Performer of the Year, Zac told EW.com:
“I’m sure Footloose would have been a huge challenge, but the actors that I love and the actors that work really hard in this industry are always shaking things up, trying new genres, acquiring new skill sets. That’s what’s always going to appeal to me: the unknown.”
Zac has instead decided to put his attention on a role he’s already snatched up, in the movie adaptation of the book, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud. The story is about a caretaker at a cemetery who has weekly meetings with a younger brother whose accidental death he feels was his fault.
Filming for the movie is set to begin in July and the film will be directed by 17 Again director Burr Steers.
