Zac Efron is on the cover of this week’s edition of “USA Weekend” magazine!
In the accompanying article, Zac touches on something he’s mentioned a lot recently, that he’s growing up and moving away from the Disney image he had for so many years thanks to the High School Musical movies. Even though his current movie, 17 Again, is about getting the chance to do things over again at age 17, he says he was able to do the part differently: “I saw it as a more complex part that could help me shift into adult material.”
Zac also talks about his fast rise to stardom and how it’s affected him over just the last few years:
“I didn’t want to be famous,” he explains. “I get sick of seeing my own face around.
“I used to get so frustrated. For a while, I felt like I was completely lost in celebrity-land. I didn’t know how to handle it. Now I know that I have to plot where I’m going, when I’m going there and where the back entrance is. It’s like I’m playing a giant game of tag.”

17 Again hits theaters in the U.S. next Friday, April 17th.
