Earlier this week, we found a Facebook stalking tool that was both terrifying and fascinating: the Breakup Notifier. But almost as soon as we learned that we could easily stalk coupled crushes, it was gone. Well, wait no longer crazy Facebook stalkers, because there’s a new tool in town: WaitingRoom.
The premise is pretty similar, in that you can sign up to find out when your crush gets out of a relationship. However! There’s a twist. Your crush will know that there is someone waiting for them, once they decide to end said relationship. And once that happens, they get to find out who you are. So choose wisely.
WaitingRoom was created sort of ironically, before the whole BreakupNotifier debacle went down. And a friend of the creator tells Crushable:
“If you’re not sure the one is really the one, you don’t have to settle because you’ll know if someone’s waiting in the wings — giving you the confidence to pursue new opportunities! On the flipside, just because someone becomes single, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to make your move. This way, we do it for you!”
But there’s a flip side. What if the existence of people in your WaitingRoom starts to make you doubt a relationship, and you finally call it quits to find out who’s in there – only to find out it was a gooseegg of some friend playing a trick on you? Or, worse, someone who actually had a crush on you but has since forgotten about their WaitingRoom and moved on? Well, it’s not so bad:
“it’s important to note if you decide that person is actually really icky or gained weight (ha!) after choosing them, you can always pull out and they’ll never know it was you.”
Good to know!
