Food Tube: Cupcakes on TV

The newest addition to Animal Planet’s lineup is an interesting one: Sweet Avenger, a reality series about vegan cupcake baker Danielle Konya. If you’re wondering what cupcakes have to do with animals, I’ll let Konya explain: “I want to show people that by eating a vegan confection, you’re directly saving the lives of cows, chickens and thereby the environment and habitats of thousands of other exotic species. There’s nothing appetizing about the suffering of 10 billion animals a year, and my treats can satisfy both the palate and the conscience.”

OK, but she’s not reinventing the wheel when it comes to cupcakes on TV. From scripted shows to reality competitions, the sweet treat has been on the tube for years.
